I prefer to screen my calls with Caller ID. If I don't recognize the number I don't answer the phone. Easy peasy and no snark or time involved.
Geeze! Who would want to invest so much time into deliberately being so mean to a person? Only the OP that's who.

21) Just keep saying, "Hello?" about 10 times til they hang up.
22) Say "Tantum Latine" (I only speak Latin) over and over.
23) (MY PERSONAL FAV) Just keep yelling very loudly, "I WON WHAT??" over and over.

I just don't answer the phone. Most of them are political groups wanting money. I choose who I want to support and do it on my own.
ITA! Well said.

I do not answer the phone for any calls "out of area" or any that do not identify the caller. If I am close to the phone, I pick it up and click on and off. Then it doesn't even go to voice mail. After awhile they give up, but they eventually come back.
It is not a person but rather a computer making these calls. The person just waits until someone picks up.

Answer the phone "Sheriff's office" and see how fast they hang up. I told one of them a long time ago they'd called a funeral home & interrupted a funeral, how disrespectful and to never call again. It worked.

The only telemarketer calls we receive are from charities we've donated to. When I did not answer the call, I found some (particularly St. Judes) called everyday until I finally blocked the number. We still received the calls but the phone only rang once.

I would say to get rid of Telemarketers is not sign up for everything under the moon to get a $1 coupon. At conventions/fairs, don't sign up for raffle stuff. Donate to charities online vs the unsolicited envelopes we get around the holidays. I haven't had a telemarketer call me in decades.

Worse thing I ever did was send the Humane Society $20.00 one time when I got one of their envelopes with the sad dog faces on it...... well looks like they SOLD MY NAME as an easy mark as since then, EVERY DAM OUTFIT that is asking for money for animals sends me mail everyday! I am talking some days 3-4 requests in the mail. I just stopped sending anyone anything out of anger that they sold my name. Really ticks me off.......

Exactly. Why invest so mush time into something so unimportant anyway?
