You get what you pay for, bags included
Bring your own bags. It’s a win win for the environment and for you
“...low end bags”??

I would never degrade a big-box store, like Walmart.
They have the same goods & merchandise as any big-box store.
And more likely, many people depend on this store in their community.
Read the OP. She talks about the cheap bags.

Yes, I was referring to the plastic shopping bags.
Silly for someone to grade a large retail store on a shopping bag.
A bag we shouldn’t be using in the first place.

So much depends on the style and work ethic of the store manager. A good manager will motivate employees to work hard and that includes store cleanliness and listening to customers and their concerns and complaints. Is there a way to participate in a store survey? Many times your register receipt will have a way for you to connect online. That being said, retail is a tough business right now. The big corporations keep cutting back the hours that store employees are allowed to work. Fewer store employee hours=less work getting done.

Frankly I don't care about how 'low-end' or cheaply made WM's plastic bags are since I don't use them. But what matters most to me is my wallet and most things I buy from WM are cheaper than what they charge for the same thing at most other stores. Saving money is important to me and I'll put up with the 'circus' if that's what it takes to do it.

@Tricolor It seems to me reporting a dirty store to its manager is like the fox guarding the henhouse. Unless he has vision problems, he should already be aware his store is dirty but just doesn't care. It should be reported to his manager.

@FlowerBear Good grief. Take your own REUSABLE bags.

Including Walmart.

New York State just banned plastic grocery bags starting in 2020 ...

Dumb question here: We have a ban on plastic bags here at check-out. I bring my own bags. But in the produce dept, they have plastic bags that are labeled with a 4 inside that recycling icon.
Does anyone else have those in their stores? If they're recyclable, why isn't the plastic that was used for packing also recyclable? Is it because they needed to be stronger and so that precluded recycling them?

We have two Walmarts that took the place of two good grocery stores within the past two years....I miss them since to get bread or milk or just a couple of things I used to pick up at one of the grocery stores, I now have to go to the Walmart and trek half a mile to the back of the huge store, then half a mile back to the front and stand in line for self-checkout.....since there are 25 check-out lanes but rarely more than one with a cashier. The recycled plastic bags are awful but I double bag everything myself or bring my own bags....I keep my expectations low for WM and am never disappointed....I have spoken to the manager more than once in person about problems with panhandling in the store, shopping carts in such disrepair I could not even find one that was usable, etc....nothing changes. It’s Walmart. My other option is driving 25 miles to a grocery store. Sometimes it is worth the trip.

If plastic bags are banned are they going to use paper? Not everyone remembers to bring the cloth bags. I reuse the bags for trashcan liners, have under the kitchen sink a small can that is made for plastic grocery bags, long prongs that the handles slip into so reuse, hardly buy kitchen & black trashbags. Some baggers use way too many bags, maybe if the bags were a little bit stronger they wouldn't use too many. Plus most products we buy are way too over package, hard to even open up the product without sissors then all that package in the trash too.
