@Tinkrbl44 I totally agree. Once again, you've expressed in a few words what it would have taken me ..... well...too much time to say. Well done.![]()

It’s all fun & games until the Police gets there.

I don't mind the self check out but if I'm paying by check and have coupons, I prefer a cashier.

If this continues they ought to lower the prices because they are not paying anyone...
Ditto .... and I have no qualms about speaking loudly in the checkout area, asking for the Manager on duty and telling them we need more cashiers. Once he proudly told me their store would become the first cashier-less store in the nation and "customers will get used to the new trend".
Yeah, right.
I told him GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE meant servicing their customers checkouts ..... and what would be next .... maybe making us help unload their trucks? I was hopping mad, several customers in the cashiers lines also spoke up ..... and I finally achieved my goal .... I embarrassed him into opening more cashier checkout lines for us on the spot.
(Five customers thanked me after the "shouting" was over .... LOL)
I hear you....I got mad and spoke out loud at the grocery store how it didn't make sense for them to have 8 ExpressCheckouts plus Self Check for those with small orders (10 or 15 items or less) yet only 4 Checkouts for those with large orders which were backed up with long lines....The Manager overheard me and immediately opened a register and pointed to me and said "ma'm I can take you over here".....I even got to cut in line
I guess it goes to show you, these days customers have to make DEMANDS to get good customer service .
Good for you!
As my Grandmother used to say ..... The squeaky wheel gets the grease ..... lol.

They're not all the same. I've been to some that are kind of junky, but the two I go to most of the time are not bad at all. Not fancy and I don't buy clothing there, but good prices overall and the stores are clean and orderly, organized well, etc. They have regular checkouts and self-checkouts too. I've never waited on an unreasonably long line or had a problem.
I don't doubt that some are terrible, but some are just fine, and a great place to go to get lower prices.

Walmart destroys good communities and makes so- so communities worse. They treat their employees and also their vendors horribly, they refuse to pay people a living wage (especially women), they put small community businesses out of business, they charge more for products in poor neighborhoods. Also, any neigborhood with a Walmart has greatly increased crime (shoplifting, drugs, muggings, theft, etc.)
They portray themselves as "all American." Propaganda. They are a despicable company. If more people knew about how Walmart operates and the trickle down damage they cause, they would not shop there.

I don't like self-checkouts. They take away jobs. I'll wait in line before I use them.
I hadn't been to McDonalds in many years and recently stopped with my sister. You now have to order on computers. It's gross imagining all the fingers that have touched the computers and then eat. Anyway, I noticed they have 2-3 fewer employees at their counter since they don't have to take orders. More lost jobs.

@lovesrecess this (bolded) is not true if you buy something at WM that has been on marked down as long as you have your receipt and you are within the refund period you will get back what you paid. Of course if you don't have your receipt you will get the lowest sale price. Many stores have this policy, this isn't exclusive to WM.

WM is on my walk so I buy if needed but I am afraid to do checkout myself. The line is not usually not big. What I noticed is prices are going up up but I guess everything is.

@DJs mom , yes. As long as you have your receipt, they refund the price you actually paid. I think that's a very common policy, and many stores have it. I briefly worked in retail a long time ago at a much higher-end store, and that was their policy too, so it's not new and certainly not just Walmart. I see that pretty much everywhere.
(It does make sense because with no receipt they have no way of knowing how much a customer actually paid. Just another reason why it's good advice to always onto receipts!)
