I'm not concerned about my products having any possible germs on them. But what concerns me is how those products are going to be placed inside my car at curbside pickup when the person who just handled some other customer's personal bags which could contaminate my stuff. You know the loading people do not disinfect their hands in between loading customer orders. That's one of my pet peeves. Germs on top of germs.

Some people who use curbside pickup are there b/c they are sick and don't or can't go into the store. I'm using curbside to avoid having to get exposed to sick people in the store plus I'm trying to avoid the unnecessary embarrassment of not being able to handle stuff off of the shelves b/c of my messed up hands.

For all you know the curbside worker has spent an entire shift scratching his butt and picking his nose and didn't wash his hands after he used the bathroom.  The products going into your bags have likely been handled by multiple people who have touched heaven knows what.  It seems like a stange thing to worry about to me, but if you're that concerned. why not just offer them some hand sanitizer when they approach your car?

Walmart should just invest in some of those plastic eating worms and keep the plastic bags.

...Enzymes that rapidly break down plastic bags have been discovered in the saliva of wax worms, which are moth larvae that infest beehives.

The enzymes are the first reported to break down polyethylene within hours at room temperature and could lead to cost-effective ways of recycling the plastic. ...

@haddon9

My sis lives in Southern NJ and knew they were going bagless long b4 the effective date.

It had been on the news for a while.

I was having her stock up on plastic bags for me...she let me know those days of crossing the border with bootleg plastic bags was going to be over.  LOL

It is not a Federal law.....banning gas...it is New York's...but what CA and NY do, many other states seem to follow.

They will ban home gas heat in new builds, gas stoves, gas cars etc all on a timeline.

I'd hate to see the plastic grocery bags go at WM, I use them for trash at home, in my car & for kitty litter. I haven't bought trash bags in years but if they go I'll have to so I'll still be using plastic, it'll just cost me $. I use curbside all the time, it's slow now because employees don't show up & this no bag nonsense will make it worse.

Exactly @kitcat51

I gotta put doggie doo in something, but now I have to pay for it!  LOL

But it is STILL plastic.

I must have a great Wally curbside.....covered AND my longest wait was 7 mins!

LOL

I do NOT order produce or fruit though....I guess i just don't trust someone else picking out my veggies!

Many reusable bags are made of non-biodegradable materials. It's just one more bad thing replacing another bad thing and more money is being made/spent in the process.

Perhaps, but that's a personal choice. Mine are not. In any case, these bags are reused for years, plastic store bags are rarely reused more than once.

Actually, @Love to Run  my whole family rarely uses the plastic bags once.

They are used over and over.....handled bags are so convenient to deliver food to people, send ppl home with stuff, carting stuff to work, school, tote this, store that, donations to GoodWill.....they were used til they were completely shot...then recycled at wegmans.

For kitty litter and doggie do....one bag lasted the entire week.

As said...I am still USING plastic just as much, but now I am the one paying for it.

I wonder what "genius" thought this up...WE REUSE those BAGS for trash, dog poop, and a bunch of other things...

So if WE have to BUY more bags...WHO IS THE WINNER?????

The S T O R E, of course...    Meanwhile, the "environment" still has "bags"...

I agree. I reuse them for cat littler or recycling cans and bottles.

The point is they eventually make it to the landfill so they need to reduce the number they put in circulation--yes for the environment. The bags you purchase can be biodigradable, these are not.

Meanwhile the politicos and celebs fly in private jets and limos.....or one flew 2 hours to France to pickup an environmental award.....do as I say, but not as I do....And no plans how to dispose of the "windmills" or solar panels that have used up their lifespan....Then there's the disposal of the electric car batteries,  cell phone/computer batteries etc etc which can impact landfil and water supplies...The 5G phones put a strain on electric grids.....Building new buildings create higher temperatures and thus more ozone issues....So the plastic bags are the least of the environmental problems......🙄

No there are no plastic or paper bags in New Jersey.  You must bring your own.

I live in NJ and get groceries delivered. They charge me $1.50 for "canvas" bags and it doesn't matter how many I use. For the last month, I have 40+ bags.....what do I do with them  ? This week they put one cheese in one bag while none of the others were full.

The best kind of shopping bags are the ones you can use over and over again regardless of what they are made of really. It's unfortunate that most people don't reuse those thin plastic grocery bags. Most are tossed. Even the cloth (poly) bags claim to be recyclable but we all know about how well recycling goes for most things...it's not.

Covered & 7 minutes, WOW! Mine has 8 pickup spots & there's always cars lined up blocking traffic waiting in to pull in. My last wait was 55 minutes but that's nothing...today I had a 3pm pickup, when I checked I got a 45 min delay that turned into a 21/2 hr delay, long story short I'm home without my groceries & they won't be ready to pickup until tomorrow after 10am....they're short staffed again because employees don't show up. I'm not happy.
