Walmart In-Home Grocery Delivery Question

After checking the website occasionally for years, Walmart In-Home delivery is finally available in my area, so I signed up for a 30-day free trial.  If it goes as planned, I will be so happy!  Smiley Happy

For those who have it, I have a question.  I know to select a window for the delivery person to come, but will I get a text when s/he is on his/her way?  Or will s/he just show up?

@Ainhisg  You'll be notified of when to expect delivery and also confirmation when it's been delivered.  They'll also remind you to get the perishable foods put away promptly.

We're still in Florida at the rental.  The other day I needed a few things.  I set up the order and they wanted something like $10-$13 for the delivery charge.  I joined Walmart+ for $1, for 30 days, which I'll cancel when we get home, but the delivery was free that way.  Be advised, though, that you will be billed for a delivery tip for your driver.  I think it's 10%.  I don't remember if there's an option to increase that.

Re: Walmart In-Home Grocery Delivery Question

@JeanLouiseFinch thanks for your response!  I'm asking about a different subscription than what you have (I think).  We have had Walmart+ for a few years and love it.  I think that's your subscription.  This is an add-on to the Walmart+ subscription called In-Home.  It's an extra $40 a year, and WM employees bring the grocery order to your home in a WM refrigerated truck.  No tipping is allowed, because they are WM employees.

They will bring the groceries to your doorstep, garage, in your garage, in your house--wherever you want them.  You just select that option while setting up the service.  They have to wear cameras if you're not home and you've given them the code to the garage or home, which I would never do personally. I will be home and have s/he bring the groceries inside the garage.

Re: Walmart In-Home Grocery Delivery Question

We've only been doing this since April or May so I'm certainly not an expert! We're plus members and I have to say that so far I'm hooked. We started because DH had knee surgery and could not drive, I have macular degeneration and cannot count on having a 'good eye' day to drive to the store so I rely on them to deliver when we need it. I buy 40-50# of cat and dog food for the outside critters (raccoons, possums, skunks) and cannot lift them, with DH mending he couldn't either. So they were a real blessing. They are great and always deliver when they say they will and yes, there is an option for a suggested tip, I usually round up. And yes, they text me when the driver leaves the store and tell me what time to expect delivery, they also message then they are just about here. The only concern I have had is with the selection of fresh foods. One time I asked for tomatoes and noted 'good size for slicing for sandwiches' and the picker chose Roma tomatoes. They are often substitute with something I would not choose but they ask before delivery.

All in all....it's a huge Heart for me. I will miss it come winter, and so will DH! (we have a steep, curvy private road to our house)

You will get a text message that they are on their way.

@Ainhisg   We don't have Walmart but othr stores that deliver. They give a 3-4 hour window for delivery. I always wonder what happens to refrigerated items if I'm not home to bring it inside.

Our apartment has a "fob" for security to get in the bldg., use the elevators and get into the apartments. UPS, AMAZON and emergency personnel have one, but not delivery people so food and grocery deliveries sometimes is left outside at the entry and would spoil.

The option is waiting downstairs until you see the delivery person.

Re: Walmart In-Home Grocery Delivery Question

I've had the Wal-Mart delivery service for a couple of years and love it!  The delivery drivers are fabulous and my orders arrive within the delivery window.

One recommendation, be sure to select Substitution Items or if you don't want a substitution you can select that option.

Re: Walmart In-Home Grocery Delivery Question

I don't do in-home but delivery to my door.  I pick a time slot, say 9-12.  I get a text saying my delivery is on the way and the ability to track it from the store.  I have been very happy with the program.

Re: Walmart In-Home Grocery Delivery Question

@We rescue cats thank you for your response!  The WM in-home is an additional subscription ($40) that you can add to WM+ ($98).  The groceries are brought from the store by a WM employee, so no tips are allowed.
