Walmart Christmas price match

Is this a good deal? What they give you is the price difference on a Walmart gift card, essentially making you spend the same amount of money - or more- at walmart as you would have without the guarantee.

Circuit city used to refund the difference plus 10% in cash - and they did this all year not just at Christmas. (but then they are out of business now)'

I think this is a marketing ploy that does not benefit the consumer at all but adds to Walmart's bottom line
