The eclipse should begin in ten minutes or so. I do not recall a total eclipse being in my area. Our mountain village is slightly west of the main path. I hope that we will still experience the darkness. Albuquerque is dead center of the path. The balloon festival should have some fantastic photos.
Edited to add: The total eclipse is an hour away at 10:35 Mountain Time. I have a before photo. If there is a significant difference, I will post the same photo at the peak of the eclipse.

@On It So great to have such a rare experience, so I hope nature co-operates. I'd love to see your pictures.

The shadows are starting to look strange here.
ETA-
I can see crescent-shapes in the shadows from the trees. So cool!

We can only see a partial eclipse. Was just outside using my paper solar eclipse glasses to see it. The Sun looks like the Moon. It sure does look weird outside. DH said he keeps wanting to turn on the lights on outside.

Peak of Eclipse: The light level compares to when a thunderstorm or heavy clouds are approaching. It is not the level of darkness I expected. The temperature drop was significant. It is much cooler now than before. The high altitude thin air may have exaggerated the temp., but it is an interesting phenomenon I had not considered.

I'm underwhelmed. Its not dark at all outside; the sky is still bright and blue, although the light is weird. Its similar to what its like very late in the afternoon with long shadows. The only place it's dark is in the house.
I'm afraid the first morning balloon glow is going to be a bust. Its not dark enough and about 9am unexpectly a brisk breeze came up. Even tethered they can't inflate balloons if it's windy.

@On It You are more cloudy than we are in the Albuquerque area. We don't have a cloud in the sky.

We ran an errand. The elk were bedded down like they do in the evening. On our return trip, a few were standing. I guess they are wondering what is happening.
