@shoesnbags - I'm so glad you have a generator. DS is there, in a hotel on St. Charles. He went to Tulane and was supposed to start a new job tomorrow. No car, so he couldn't go anywhere.

It was hard to lead our service this morning. I told everyone what was going on before they started recording. We've talked to him some, but the power is out now and I want him to conserve his battery.

DD missed being a bridesmaid in her friend's wedding in Massachusetts last weekend because of Henri.

Stay safe. I will pray for you.

@beach-mom

Our son in Chicago is switching between Weather Channel and CNN trying to keep track of what's going on.  And of course texting with me.  Not going to share with him that his dad and I just went out into the storm to re-attach a shutter that had come loose.  Mr. Shoes on the ladder, and me holding it steady while the wind blew.  There's a huge tree in front of our house, so the storm shutters on our four big front windows are so important

I'm sure that your son will be safe inside a hotel.  But the aftermath without electricity won't be fun if they don't have a generator.

@shoesnbags - I'm glad you're OK after holding the ladder for Mr. Shoes! I've been through one hurricane, and was outside checking to see if the sump pump was working late at night. But that was nothing like this!

The hotel has a generator, but just in the lobby.

Thanks @suzyQ3 and @Greeneyedlady21! I'm sitting on the couch watching the Weather Channel. It's hard to concentrate on anything else.

Checking in again to say that we're still here.  Lost TV but still have AT&T internet.  Have a bucket in kitchen under leaking skylight, but that's minor considering what's happening.

We are not in Orleans Parish, which has lost emergency power to some of its pumps due to incompetence on the part of the power company, Entergy Louisiana. Very serious situation in town. Our utilities here in the suburbs are separate from the city proper - it's actually a separate company legally. So our situation is a bit different.

We need to hang on for a few hours now till the worst of this monster moves on.  No more TV but hearing bad things on the radio about surrounding areas.

@shoesnbags  Thank you for checking in. Been thinking and praying for you and your family on and off all day. I have been texting some close cousins and friends, none in the area by you, local to me. I have told them about you and your family. They are all sending prayers too.

One thing about this forum, we may not "know" each other but we come through for each other.

My continued prayers and light to you.

@beach-mom  Thinking and praying for your son also. Glad he is not alone and in a hotel with other people. At least the lobby has a generator.

(((hugs))) to you both.Heart

@shoesnbags and @beach-mom   Glad you are checking in and all is going well with relatively minor inconveniences.    Generators are doing their job and the ladder situation went well.  Both of you and your families are in our thoughts...just checking in with you.  I've been reading the continual updated reports....keep hunkering down and staying strong, challenging time for sure.  We are continuing to root for safe passage through this storm.
