I need to get this off my chest so I can sleep tonight.

My Grandson works for a small charter school as their IT Specialists.  Schools here are closed but he needed to go by the school to finish up a few things and get his personal items he may need until school is back in session.

He stopped at the local Waffle House to eat breakfast just as he does 3 out of 5 days. They know who he is and where he works.

As soon as he sat down at the counter he was asked to leave because he worked at a school. He did as he was asked and left.

How can they do this?  Did they ask everyone that came in the door where they worked? I think they went a little too far by asking him to leave.  Are they not going to serve doctors, nurses first responders, all teachers?

Thanks for listening.Smiley Sad

Wow a Waffle House did this?  I thought they were faithful no matter what.  Shame on them!

Re: Waffle House

[ Edited ]

A lot of restaurants, and coffee shops, Starbucks included, are only serving to-go orders only.

it sounds like the Waffle House is just trying to follow recommendations to limit the number of people inside their establishment.

Don't forget, people can spread the virus, and yet not have any symptoms.

So asking your son to leave was done out of an abundance of caution.

After all, isn't it better to be overly cautious, than not cautious enough?

Wouldn't you be more upset if your son got sick from someone who was at the Waffle House, or if he made someone else sick, unknowingly?

The Sky looks different when you have someone you love up there.

@camelot   He let it go, but grandma is another thing.  Don't mess with my baby.

Most restaurants will be shut down before the week is out.

I think they're being super cautious because they know he worked somewhere he could have been exposed to many people.

We can continue to assume we're not going to be like the affected hotspots elsewhere or we can become one of those spots because we think we'fre safe.   Take your choice .

But really, how different is their request from those people who have bought out all the supples we all need so that the local stores have none for those of us not overreacting???   I don't see the difference.  Each makes someone feel safer - even if they're not!

@liliblu I'm hoping tonight.  That might close my place of business since part is restaurant based.  They are firing me anyway.  To sit home and force them to pay out my full PTO they were going to deny me is poetic justice.
