I read this interesting article a little while ago, Survivor of newly found WWII shipwreck: 'So many' to rescue apnews.com/ec6ad774a3934bda8f367db49fe9dcca
I knew nothing about The Battle of Attu so went looking for more information and after reading the article linked below found that I resented so much time in history class focusing on Europe with not a single mention of this event.
WWII Battle of Attu Island Still Haunts Those Who Fought There military.com/daily-news/2018/05/28/bloody-battle-attu-still-haunts-those-who-fought-there.html

There is so interesting stories we don't know about. I was reading just a few days ago about a boat full of airplane Pilots headed for Europe during WW11 that was sunk of the coast of Florida by a German Uboat. Nothing was said because they didn't want the enemy to know we had lost so many Pilots.

@Marp thank you for posting this. I've read a lot of books on WW2, and sadly had not heard of this.
