@twinny70, I like that one too. Did you know there are three versions of it? I like any one of them.

I love poetry. My favorite poet is Mary Oliver, but here is a favorite from Emily Dickinson:
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

My faves are both from Robert Frost ~
Stopping by the Woods . . .
and
Road Not Taken

No, I didn't know that there was more than one version. When my Father passed away very suddenly in 1991, a co worker gave me s beautiful set of magnets & that was & still is my favorite poem. I now have an AI disorder, so I am in the Lord's arms often.

Sonnet 57 has been one of my favorite poems since I was a teen
SONNET 57
Being your slave, what should I do but tend
Upon the hours and times of your desire?
I have no precious time at all to spend,
Nor services to do, till you require.
Nor dare I chide the world-without-end hour
Whilst I, my sovereign, watch the clock for you,
Nor think the bitterness of absence sour
When you have bid your servant once adieu;
Nor dare I question with my jealous thought
Where you may be, or your affairs suppose,
But, like a sad slave, stay and think of nought
Save, where you are how happy you make those.
So true a fool is love that in your will,
Though you do any thing, he thinks no ill.

Wonderful thread. My degree is in Eng lit, so I was fortunate not only read poetry but learn how to examine it for meaning based on the poet, his life's work, and the time in which he lived.
I'm not a praying person, but I will pray that all the arts will continue to flourish (and be well-funded). The arts, IMO, are a necessity for human beings. I am very worried about any diminishment they may suffer now. So I'll pray, in my own way. :-)
