I like to iron. Haha I know that sounds

crazy. Learned by ironing my dad's handkerchiefs when I was a kid. Found it so rewarding. 😆

my mom had very good taste. Classy dresser. I learned from observing her. She also sewed beautifully. Made many of my clothes in childhood and my teen years, cute dresses that were in style but not totally faddish. She taught me how to accessorize tastefully. The word tacky was frequently used to steer me away from questionable fashion choices  lol

Years ago mothers used to teach their daughters how to dress properly and develop a sense of style.

Fast forward to recent times, and the chaos of the internet and every kid having a cell phone gave them a great deal of fashion autonomy.

I recall an interesting interview with actor Tony Randall in his later years when he had married and had small children.

Tony was asked about fatherhood and parenting and he made a startling observation:

"The children have money.  Never in the history of the world has this ever happened before.  The children have money."

@I am still oxox --when I graduated high school,I worked for a few years at a local garment factory---and I TOTALLY agree about plaids and side seams matching--that's the first thing I check out.

Re: WHAT MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME - CLOTHES

My mom sewed alot of my clothes when I was little--she taught me to sew when I was about 8. There was not alot of $$ for lots of things --got the basics she couldn't sew--shoes, under ware etc. but when I had a job during high school and summers---I also sewed up my school wardrobe--and bought shoes and matching purses. then when I had little ones, I sewed up their clothing too. Made costumes and home decor as well.
