I am sorry to read of your husbands dementia progression to a stage where end of life measures are necessary. As hard as it is to face the fact you are at this dreaded point where final decisions must be made now, the needs of your husband in his last days will all be met thru a care plan best provided by trained caregivers. He will be in good hands and you will have the strong support you need as you say goodbye.

I could not have asked for a better Hospice experience for my husbands last weeks at home. My husbands cancer diagnosis was grim from the getgo, so once he completed radiation, he chose to enjoy the days he had left for as long as he had them, and not waste time seeing his specialty doctors and having tests. He never regretted that decision and I will always feel he did what was best for him. You will feel great relief with his centralized care and letting go of those outside medical appointments!

Please know you are and will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I send you hugs and prayers for heartfelt peace as you face the most difficult days ahead. Do stay in touch with your friends here; we care!

@Cakers3 So sorry to hear of your husband's dementia progresson. You always inspire me & make me smile when I read your posts every day. It's as if you know I'm reading them (along with many others here) I don't post often but I do read daily.My thoughts & prayers are with you, your husband and family. This time with him is very precious he may not remember but you will. Hugs to you

did my walk did 3 miles it was a chore for the last mile-way to heat hot but I did drink my water and kept on moving. now relaxing in cool.

cleaned another part of my room-not much else. later all

My only agenda item today: grocery shopping ... and I just finished that.

It's another hot and humid NYC day ... so humid that when I came out of the supermarket ... my glasses steamed up ... and that was before 11:00 am!

Home (air-conditioned) .... for the rest of the day. My calendar is empty until Saturday .... plenty of time for my yarn, needles and hooks ... and some reading.

It's still hot here but not quite as humid - I guess that does make a big difference, even for me inside the house, as I have more energy than I've had the past few days. What am I doing today......

Cleaning the House Wearing Jewelry: Yesterday I started going through my jewelry. I put some in the donation bin, some gold/silver in a separate pile to take when I see an ad in the paper as to where I can take it for some cash, and some I threw out.

I have LOTS of jewelry and probably at least 80% is from QVC. I've hardly worn most of it as I've been "saving it". Nope - I went though a lot of stuff my husband had also been "saving" and now he's gone and never enjoyed any of it.

So today, even though I'm not going anywhere, I'm wearing a pretty sterling silver necklace and bracelet. I'm going to make a habit of wearing something everyday!

ANOTHER hot day!!!

Hair Cut: Got my hair cut today. I go to a beauty shop that's about a 45 minute trip from home. When we moved I thought I would stop going there and find something closer, but I never did.

In the winter my husband would always take me as I don't like driving in the snow. Perhaps when the winter weather starts I'll tell my current stylist that since I no longer have my husband to drive I'm going to go to a beauty shop closer to home. If I like it, maybe I'll continue going to this other beauty shop. It's only about 1 mile from my house vs the other is about 20 miles.

Yes, I do like my current stylist, but I only have a simple hair style (bob with layers) that I think another stylist would have no problem doing.

It is very warm and humid today so no walking for me. I did go to the bank, the clinic for blood work, and the grocery store. Going to have a glass of lemonade and do some reading this afternoon.
