Hello all, just wanted to stop by and say hi ! Hoping for an update but at the same time hoping to not hear the worst. I, too, have thought a lot about ShowMe's last few posts. She was so adamant that she didn't want any chemo treatment but was then talked into the chemo by pill. She certainly went downhill quickly after that but I am certainly not linking any connection as we know the cancer had spread throughout her body already.
Heading out to take the kids and grandkids for a day of food and fun and mayhem at Incredible Pizza. Looking forward to it as my husband's son and family are coming from out of state and we haven't seen them for a while - and a bonus - I get to play with an 18 month old grandson !
Christmas is all decorated and presents purchased or checks mailed (and cashed) - just baking and wrapping to do. Did something new this year, we have a wood burning fireplace but probably won't have a fire at Christmas due to some little ones running around. SO, I put in logs and wove several strands of battery operated white lights among them. The lights have a fade in, fade out feature and it looks very pretty. Will probably leave them in year round.
Wishing all a wonderful day, for those struggling remember you are never alone and I hope ShowMe knows how much she is loved and missed. ![]()

Your Christmas sounds like it will be wonderful and the little white lights will look just beautiful...I am sure...love those lights.
I missed months on here and did not realize just how bad her cancer had gotten. I am sad I missed so much.

@Cakers3 wrote:@hellie jo You and your DS will always be in my prayers.
@PredsI am sending you healing light; I just wanted to let you know that I've always appreciated your spirit.
For everyone dealing with troubling times - you may not know it but I sincerely hope for the best for all of you.
I'm not going to be posting so I'm sending out an early wish for everyone to be safe and happy this holiday season.
Be well.
Greetings, @Cakers3. I've been worrying about your post, worrying about you.
I've often taken a step away from the forums, so I hesitate to encourage anyone to be here when it's not the best place or time.
Even so, I need to tell you, in case you read here, that your absence is that empty chair at a gathering place, the one whose usual occupant makes the circle complete, the one we keep checking to see if our friend has returned.
Times like these I'd give anything for a way to chat, to say what I need to say about the kind of steadfast friend you've been to me and to so many others, the way you understand the profound pain that often has to be left unsaid, and more. On my part, if anything I've done or said caused you even the slightest disappointment or upset I hope you'll forgive me. This is from my heart to yours.
Years ago you began a tradition of the gift of a Gaelic blessing at this special holiday season, it's something I go to for help when I need to find a calm center, a rescue place to rest and feel safe, and I think of you and your gentle heart when I read or hear it. You wrote something that touched me so much that I copied and saved it:
"I always look forward to your kindness and serenity; especially on those days when the world seems cold. Your warmth shines through, always, It truly does."
I feel this describes who you are and I know I'm not alone in that. Deep peace to you.

@croemer Before ShowMe took the chemo pills, she was advised by her physician to think about hospice. She wouldn't give up the fight, so he agreed to prescribe them. What I found so profound about all of it was her intense desire to live. She took joy in the most simple of things.....her Klondike bars, a good meal and I remember her posts about how thrilled she was with her 2 sweaters from Vermont Country Store. She lived life to the fullest and I feel I can take a lesson from her. In fact, I think she taught me what it is to fight for your life and never give up.
For many years ShowMe had a running thread on St. Patrick's Day. There we shared our purchases. She purchased the Belleek castle lamp and when she described it, I ordered it too. Now everytime I walk into our living room, I see that lamp and think of her. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious and she is so very missed... I pray her journey into the next life is a very peaceful one and that someday we will meet in person there.
