Afterall, it's a support group, much like AA is a support group, and yet one doesn't pay to go to those meetings.
@Plaid Pants2. Weight Watchers is not at all like AA. It's a profit-making corporation. If you want free like AA, look up OA meetings (Overeaters Anonymous).
I guess a price increase is the mark Oprah is leaving on the organization. I think they're doing poorly because they were already too expensive. They've all but gone out of business in my area. I guess Oprah figures if she can afford it, anyone can?

Bottom line is this, what do they care more about?
How much money they can make, or people's health and wellbeing?
Which is more important?
Helping the few people who can afford it, because they have raised their rates too high, or helping the many, by lowering their prices.

The new program is called SmartPoints. Saturated fat and Sugar will be in the equation of determining a smartpoint value. The 49 weekly points everyone is now given will change based upon an assessment you fill out. If you are sedentary prepare for a reduction in those 49 points. I got this information from a member in Australia. It is online under Weight Watcher changes for 2016.

You cannot be serious. Is this a joke?

@orangegarnet wrote:@Lipstickdiva, I checked my account earlier today & that's what it said.. I paid a one time $59.something for 3 months and it came out to $19.95.. Now what it might go up to after the 3 months I don't have a clue but a plug nickel to a dime it goes up. I may not be getting such a good deal after all when they raise the rates. Sorry to say but they're going to raise the rates til no one wants to pay that much but that's how I feel.
Is this for the online version of WW? I think that's what my daughter is charged, and she doesn't go to meetings -- only does the online stuff. She actually got in on a great deal recently by losing 10 pounds in a certain amount of time. (Sorry to be vague -- I can't remember the details, but I think she paid for one month and got two free or something like that!)

@jonbon, yes, this is for the online version of WW. I paid a one time $59.95 for three months. I have a feeling that will change soon.

Oh, gosh, @Tissyanne. Do you know if we can still use the points plus calculator? I have two of those things. I restarted Monday on my own but as a Lifetimer, I'm going back in the spring. I don't see myself buying any new stuff, though.

I cannot say for certain, but in my opinion it will change because you could not calculate sugar and saturated fat on the current one. You know they change things up every year to keep people interested, and of course to sell new products. I am going Sunday, and will post back to your attention when I find out. @Mmsfoxxie.

Thanks, @Tissyanne. You're probably right, though. Ba humbug, lol.

This doesn't surprise me at all; my leader hinted that nutritional information was going to be a huge focus going forward as nutritional labels are changing in 2016 by law. Also, the "snacks" sold at meetings are being reboxed with new labels and "other new info" and customers are limited to 4 boxes of snacks for the first 4 weeks (so until January).
I've done WW after each pregnancy and am on now due to medical issues brought on by an accident I've seen the program change more times than I can remember. My gut says that fruit is going to go back to having points (my doctors said to disregard that "no points" as I have to monitor my blood sugar levels and fruit is high in natural sugar); there going to reduce the number of points people get (that's going to tick many off); you'll need new material (they'll give you the tools to do that but their cookbooks may prove useless without the info to convert to new points) and they'll increase the cost (maybe not but I've heard murmurs). The online stuff is supposed to get even more advance and user friendly...right now it's a nightmare ![]()

Weight Watchers is just too expensive! For a 30 minute meeting once a week, you pay anywhere from $12-$15. That's several hundred dollars a year just to have someone weigh you and stand up and talk to you. And now they're going to make it cost even more?!
