Re: WARNING - SPAM SOCIAL SECURITY EMAIL

I check my spam folder everyday as sometimes legitimate email ends up in there.  I always look at the URL and never click on anything.

Re: WARNING - SPAM SOCIAL SECURITY EMAIL

@UpNorthGorgy   Why wait.  Call your local IRS office if concerned.

Snail mail from a government agency (IRS, SS, Federal xxxx) are usually legit.

Does it automatically delete spam emails?  If not, I'm guessing it could have hundreds, if not thousands, of bad emails collecting in it.

I find that, occasionally, there are legitimate emails that got misrouted into it.

I check mine daily and delete everything that wasn't misrouted.

Re: WARNING - SPAM SOCIAL SECURITY EMAIL

I just made a phone donation to the Police Dept. with my credit card, and now, I'm wondering if I was spammed.

I don't know why I did that, b/c you should never make unsought donations via phone.

Re: WARNING - SPAM SOCIAL SECURITY EMAIL

@febe1  If concerned call your local PD to find out if it was them seeking donations.

OR

If you are on FB, check your local PD FB page.  It would be listed there if they are asking for cc donations.

In my neck of the woods, they ALWAYS want "cash donations."

@febe1

If your local PD says they aren't soliciting via phone right now, call your credit card company ASAP and alert them to a scam and block the deduction.

If it turns out to be fraud, it's good to have that call to CS on record.

Re: WARNING - SPAM SOCIAL SECURITY EMAIL

Every week I have at least two fake Paypal notices in my spam folder.

I always forward those to spoof at paypal dot com so they can go after these frauds.

Paypal always sends a nice automated email thanking me.  Woman Happy

So I see from several people here.

If someone sends me an email and it goes to spam or junk, they'll have to send it a different way because I will not see it.

I've also never had something I needed go to spam in all the years I've had personal or business email.  I just let the tech do its job, keep everything updated as soon as updates come out and never even open a junk email.  Empty the junk folder a few times a week.

So ... you never empty the spam filter?

Some can have viruses, and you prefer to just let them collect?
