Do they know yet if this one was from fracking?
There are now four states that have reported fracking contamination.

155 years ago, an unemployed sick man drilled the first modern oil well.
A hard-up wildcatter named Edwin Drake drilled the country's first oil well. Up until 1859, oil had been gathered by collecting whatever had seeped through to the surface --- known drilling methods were deed too dangerous.
I would say it is a record of working at drilling for 155 years with few and far problems that are major.
Not like other companies having problems almost every day or every year.

Fracking has been going on over 50 years. Only a few years ago some of you learned about that word. And from that day forward that word of Fracking is what you keep tossing out to try to down all oil companies in America.
Fine buy from other Countries.

Maybe I will go eat more chicken wings and let you guys try to destroy more American companies. It is those companies that are paying MOST [so it seems] of America's Taxes to help everyone that needs help.
Who will pay for all the goodies most of you are getting now when the oil companies stop drilling in America?

""so it seems"" isn't good enough. You might want to do some research.

I would be surprised if a bankruptcy judge would allow protection if it's obvious they are only trying to avoid liability payouts. In any case, the company will be liable for the regulatory (criminal) violations associated with contamination of surface waters. That liability will not be changed by bankruptcy protection.
Thanks, Chalcedony!

The W. VA energy companies are centered around coal production, not oil.

The amount paid [so it seems] means it seems like that. So it seems. Because the amount paid by all the workers and owners is Out of This World HIGH.

Four States Confirm Water Pollution From Drilling
In at least four states that have nurtured the nation's energy boom, hundreds of complaints have been made about well-water contamination from oil or gas drilling, and pollution was confirmed in a number of them, according to a review that casts doubt on industry suggestions that such problems rarely happen.
