I've mentioned this before. My Father has been gone almost 23 years, about 17 yrs. I was involved in a 10 car pile up. Bad Accident, I was hit by a huge van and a full size truck, when the truck hit me, I was pushed out of the expressway and going straight to a palm tree, my shoulder was dislocated and maneuvering steering wheel with one hand while firmly placing my right hand on my son who was in his car seat. I felt as if I was being held from behind but my little S10 didn't have a back seat. When I arrived by the hospital, I had a thick line going across my chest and Dr. couldn't explain it. I smelled my Dad and I knew it was him holding me. I didn't say anything at the Hospital but I knew.

qvcfreak, that is a wonderful experience. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

My DS has a close friend who was in a very bad car accident. He was semi conscious waiting for someone to find him on a dark country road. He said his departed grandfather came to him during this time and let his grandson know that he would be all right. Help was on it's way.

His friend said he came to after that visit to hear the ambulance sirens.

I put off knee surgery so long, and during the time I was thinking and praying about moving forward with it, I had a visit from my Dad, and felt his message that I needed to just do it; it was time. As I was wheeled from pre-op holding into the OR on the day of surgery, I saw my Dad surrounded by other people and all were smiling and telling me I would be fine. Later I realized those other people were both sets of grandparents, two aunts and two uncles---the people I loved most in the world who have passed on. These visits bring me much peace.

Re: Visits from those who have passed on

Once when I was really sick with the flu and sleeping on the sofa one night, I woke up and knew I wasn't alone. I looked over and there was my mother on the chair she usually sat when she visited me just sitting there. When I dream of my mother and/or grandmother, any problem or bad time in my life is over shortly after.

I sometimes dream of lost loved ones but I know that dreams come from within my mind and are not a ""visit"" from the beyond.

Re: Visits from those who have passed on

I never believed any of this kind of stuff. Mom died 40 years ago and nothing. Dad died two years ago and whenever I am thinking of him, there is a lamp in the living room that goes on and off (and there is no Clapper attached to it!)

Twenty years ago I was in a car accident, wearing a seat belt but thrown from the car. I was wearing a silk dress that snagged if you just looked at it. I was in the hospital being checked and there was not one mark on the dress. A few days later I was getting gas at a gas station at that corner and heard two guys talking about it and I told them I was the person thrown - they said it was very surreal to watch because it was almost like someone caught me and laid me alongside the road as opposed to having been thrown from the car. Cynic in me believes there is an explanation for these but . . . ya never know!

My loved ones though have died are not lost to me because I know where they are and that we will again be reunited.

I agree, mine are occasionally in my dreams that my memory has stored up. Occasionally I awake and think they are real.

My mom has been gone for 11 years now. I always wish and hope that she'd make contact with me somehow but, to date, I've haven't had any. I'm always asking her but nothing. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

Re: Visits from those who have passed on

The experience I can remember most was in a dream, no actual visit. I was taking my mom somewhere, and we were in the car talking as I drove. She told me I should have my brakes checked because they weren't good. I remember explaining that the car had just been in the shop, and they were fine, but she insisted they needed repair. A few days later I got them checked, and not only my car, but DH's also needed them! There was nothing wrong with them that I could feel before they were fixed, but I was glad I listened to my mother that time, even if it was a dream. pinky

Re: Visits from those who have passed on

Yes - I was in an accident. Hospital stitched me up and I was able to go home without being hospitalized but of course you are banged up a bit. (I had stitches on my head). Just as I was falling asleep, my mother was standing at the doorway to the bedroom and she said everything would be fine. This was about three years after she passed away. My daughter had been very close to my mother and she believes my mother was there but of course, everyone else thinks I dreamed it. As it turned out, I was fine with no lingering bad effects.

I do find it interesting that a couple of others on this thread mentioned they saw their loved one after an accident.
