Disagree. The difference is that your examples are about looking to others to tell you things but vision boards are about what you want to create for yourself. Putting visuals to goals can be helpful.

I've never heard of vision boards until I saw this thread and read the comments..It sounds very interesting and I love the idea..I think it would be a very positive project and could prove to be of great comfort and help to lessen anxiety during this distressing time that we all are going through - positivity, hope, visualization for our future, etc..I googled for some more information and there are many examples to be found on

I've had several vision boards over the last 20 yrs with no input from the Psychic Friends Network 😂
Mine keeps me on track for personal goals and you could probably add inspiration from your meditation or prayer sessions. For me it's like the yellow brick road. I have a destination or goal in mind but need the steps to get there.

I had one a long time ago but I didn't know that's what they called it. Mine was about keeping motivated to quit smoking and stop doing some other bad things in my life at that time. It had pictures of a car I wanted to buy with the money I would save from not smoking. Plus it had little notes I'd write as reminders to do at least one thing each day that made me happy. Most of it was little pictures I found in magazines which I thought were just nice to look at...ahh-uhh..those kind, too.
It was a collage of my life of sorts which I kept private.

@isaboo I remember Jen Coffey had a couple shows where she highlighted vision boards while doing the show.

Years ago Rhonda Byrne wrote a book called The Secret and vision boards became popular.
The objective was that you could create what you wanted for yourself by visualizing it. You would place pictures of items, anything you would to achieve on the board.
Neville wrote a book called The Power of Awareness in which he stated you can control your mind to create what you want in life if you believe in yourself. Dr. Wayne Dyer also wrote books describing the power of your mind.
The concept is if you believe, really believe, and envision it, the result will be fruition.

For some reason, this kind of reminds me of a New Years resolution, which I don't do. I just don't stick with things like that.

I attended a Business Seminar where this was discussed....didnt think it was worth my while ---too many unconstant things happen in today's world that make it hard to plan (just look at this pandemic and what it caused on people's plans, education, careers etc....) And the constant changing world of technology cause some visions/dreams to become obsolete-- Now I CAN see it working if you are building a house and make up a Vision Board on flooring, window placement, color of paint for the walls, floor plans, kitchen layout, bathroom designs etc etc
These felines seem to have embraced Vision Boards.....
