I have a feeling more stories will come out once the abused start to feel some safety in numbers. I can't help but feel the incidents of violence by NFL players might stem from or be exacerbated by the fact the sport is so violent in itself.
These men are trained to hurt other people. The game is one long act of aggression. Throw a guy a ball and then try to take him down as quickly and as hard as you can.
I've also wondered if we aren't seeing yet another symptom of the brain damage that some of these guys are experiencing.
As you can tell, I'm not a fan of the sport.

Child abuse, spousal abuse, animal abuse and any other type of abuse isn't isolated to the NFL. It's in every culture, race and religion. I have a friend who is very active in the RC church. She refers to the abusing members of the clergy as "a few bad apples".
Google puppy kicked by CEO.
Remember Jerry Sandusky.

I'm glad some of the sponsors took a stand.

In years gone by, knowing some of the family members (not personally mind you) are very "green" oriented and very into conservation . . . I'd think they'd be highly likely to frown up this and say so with their advertising dollars. BUT since they were taken over / bought out . . . by Inbev (sp?) I'm not sure what they'd do . . .

Isn't Peterson still collecting a weekly paycheck of over $600,000 per week even though he's not playing? So it really doesn't matter whether or not he's in the game - he's not losing one darn thing.
I don't get all the cheering for the ptb in the Vikings.

No. What did he say?
This is from an interview. He defended Peterson and then went on to get himself into trouble. It is from nbcsports.com:
As it turns out, there are people worse at talking about the Adrian Peterson situation than the Vikings front office, or at least one.
Lions running back Reggie Bush said he supported Peterson’s method of punishing children, if not the degree to which Peterson took it.
“I was punished the same way,” Bush said on WFAN, via the New York Daily News. “And I know a lot of my friends and a lot of the guys I played with, they were punished the same way, too.”
“I got what we call whoopings.”
“I definitely will try to — will obviously not leave bruises or anything like that on her,” Bush said. “But I definitely will discipline her harshly depending on what the situation is.”
He initially said he’d “consider” using a switch like Peterson did, but then said he misspoke.
“I said spanking,” he said. “Spanking is different than a branch or a stick”
Bush probably realized he stepped in a big pile upon leaving the interview, so he took to Twitter to start the ritual scraping of the shoe.
“Let’s get one thing straight people, I believe in disciplining a child period!” he wrote. “I believe in spanking a child (IF NEEDED) NOT beating them!
I’m a big believer in the First Amendment, and love it when football players speak openly and honestly.
But this is probably not the week to advocate for corporal punishment, unless you just enjoy having to explain what you really mean.

He may still be collecting bonus money, but I suspect people are weary of the NFL's uneven handling of transgressions that happen outside their venue. They really need a more clear-cut direction as to what happens with an active employee when charged with a crime.

Well, as long as he's careful not to leave bruises on a one-year old.

I read that McDonalds, Citibank and several other large companies spoke out against the situation. I'm glad he's not playing.

They should all pull their ads until the NFL realizes it can't make this stuff disappear.
