It depends, but usually not. A post that is getting into 3, 4, 5+ (long-winded) paragraphs with a complete history? Ya, I'm not likely to read it.

I typically don't read them. But I am a master at writing them. Not one brevity bone in my body. Oh well, I embrace the Chatty Kathy I am and go with it.

Aw, c'mon now. You telling me you aren't reading mine? Over in the Sports Forum, short posts from me are very rare.

The best writing lesson I ever learned came in response to the question, "How long does the essay need to be?". The teacher replied, "Like a girl's skirt, i.e., long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to be interesting."

NO. They're a YAWN, and many times the long posts turn out to be bragging, attention-seeking, and "I know more than you do". One of my favorite phrases is "Cut to the chase".

I dont't mind long posts and tend to read them especially if they have pages of replies. That usually means there is a lively discussion going on. It also depends on the poster. If it is someone who always posts long stories and basically says the same thing about themselves over and over I tend to skip them. Kind of like a relative who tells you the same stuff every time you see them. Lol. Though I'd listen to them. ![]()

I usually just skim the post , but a few posters I do read all of it.

Sometimes I can be guilty of the longer posts.
Long posts don't bother me, unless it's all one paragraph. Some posters don't use capital letters, which makes sentences difficult to read. I don't read "text speak" either, so if a post has a lot of "U R" in it, I won't read it. I don't even text-write when I'm texting.
Same with slang. Women are not preggers or preggo. It sounds so stupid. They are pregnant.
