My 82 yr old mom fell down 6 steps yesterday and has at least 3 osteoporosis related compression fractures. WHY was she running down the steep front steps when she could have gone out the back door that has 1 step and walked down the gradually sloping driveway to the mailbox? Grrr.
Just wondered what the course of treatment will be? Obviously she doesn't grow bone well. She was already taking Fosomax which only prevents loss. But she needs to grow new bone to heal. Forteo shots again? Ugh.
Dad said she'll go to physical therapy. Mom and Dad are very active. They've basically never been apart for 62 years. I'm concerned about not just the physical situation but the demoralizing situation this will be for them psychologically.
