Got text message with a link saying that my Verizon account needs security validation, etc. Did a general search online to verify that it’s a scam. Wish scammers could’ve caught and jailed and fined!

Re: Verizon Mobile Phone Scam

I always verify before I do anything also. We all have to be so dillagent and check any of these kinds of emails or phone calls out. 👍

Re: Verizon Mobile Phone Scam

I have received multiple calls from "James" with "my TV service" saying they have repositioned a satellite and I must go to the main TV receiver and let him walk me thru the update procedure to insure no disruption to my service.

I promptly say NO, along with more words I cannot share here, to which his response is that my service will be disconnected. My response is always good, do it, thank you, goodbye!

Re: Verizon Mobile Phone Scam

I let all my calls with names or phone numbers that I don't recognize go directly to my answering machine. The scammers NEVER leave a message.

Re: Verizon Mobile Phone Scam

Also, keep an eye on your bank statements for any unusual charges. Just yesterday a charge for $202 from Dave Inc. on 2/16 showed up on mine. I just got back from my bank after disputing the charge and will have to wait for a new card to come in 7-10 business days. I had never heard of Dave Inc. and certainly never did business with them. A quick look at the BBB website showed 555 complaints lodged against them for similar issues. Here's a radical thought, if there are 555 people they've stolen from maybe the credit card companies shouldn't do business with them. (And truth be told they likely stole from lots more people who didn't file complaints with the BBB.)

@gardenman , I have found the BBB to be pretty useless anymore.  And if CC companies quit doing busines with Dave Inc. they will just start up using a different name.  And round and round it will go.
