Vacuum Cleaner: Can We Talk? Anyone Have The Shark Navigator?

I'm in the market for a new vacuum cleaner and am dizzy from looking at so many.

Lowes, Sears, Target, Kohl's, Macy's and Costco.

I ruled out a lot of new ones, including a Dyson, because the tanks are so heavy. I'd like a self-propelled, retractable cord vacuum, but the new ones I've seen are heavy, heavy.

Costco has the Shark Navigator on special and it's light weight. It's also only $99, so I don't know if it can handle a high-pile wool rug. The reviews I've seen give it 4 1/2 to 5 stars.

Any advice or recommendations?
