Just because you are vaccinated doesn't mean you won't get Covid, hopefully with the vaccine your experience will be mild.
Do what feels right for you & don't let anyone shame/guilt you into feeling differently
I've seen several posts on various forums, including this one that people are getting the vaccine and are now living like there's no tomorrow. I don't know where that mindset comes from but it's not correct. Even with the vaccine, you can still get covid
@software @I'm piggybacking on what you posted here...and even if you vaccinated people get COVID and are symptomatic you could still spread your COVID to some poor unvaccinated person that could become seriously ill. Until we know that the vaccines completely or almost completely prevent transmission to others, it's only unselfish of us to wear masks when we are near unvaccinated persons. Then, we all must consider variants and the level of protection our vaccines are giving against all of them.

From reading this thread I don't think we are ever going to get out of this. We need to work together.

Once I'm vaccinated, if by some strange fluke I still caught Covid, I'd be pretty much guaranteed to get a mild version. Because of that I will feel quite safe around others.
You know the trope that some have been saying that "most people who catch Covid get a mild case?" Well, vaccinated, those odds go infinitely even further in my favor.
And I will feel free to do a lot -- with other vaccinated people who are in the same boat as me. People who are not vaccinated, I would not want to accidentally asymptomatically infect, even though the risk for that is low, so I would not want to gather with them unmasked etc like I did pre-2020.
I'll wear masks in public because it's polite and to protect unvaccinated people, same as before. Private gatherings, being willing to go places with larger crowds, and getting together with other safe households are the biggest changes I foresee.
When you're vaccinated, infected people whether symptomatic or not, stop being a threat. I look forward to it. I have grown very weary of seeing other people as threats to my health. But if someone can give me a serious disease that could go very wrong for me, and I have no protection against it, a threat is what they are. Vaccinated, the threat is gone. That will be wonderful.
This is how I'm looking at it too. While I've bristled every time someone dragged out the "It's just like the flu!" nonsense, I can't help but think that's what my life in a post-vaxx world looks like (with masks and distancing as long as advised). It becomes one more possible illness that isn't any more communicable or deadly than...well...you know........and isn't causing a disproportionately huge drain on medical resources.

Shot, no shot....DH and I have changed very little in our lives. We follow the mandate of our state about masks, other wise we have done everything we wanted to do....except for the art shows, antique shows that were cancelled.
We are not living in fear, but I realize everyone must make their own choice.

I got my second dose yesterday. Glad I did it but have no (immediate) plans to change my routine.

@sandy53 No. For us it is "fear of getting sick or dying."
For us also. Isn't "normal" a term relative to each person's lifestyle?
@deepwaterdotter Exactly. If you are someone who doesn't have a large family and a safety net; if you are someone who other people depend on for their survival, it's a different world.
Some of you have the luxury of people to swoop in and take care of you. And some of us are the swoopers-in.
And some are just "us."

If I just had myself to take care of or worry about only me getting sick, I would probably be doing a lot more (with a mask).
That might be the difference in a lot of people who are supposedly living their lives as before and not changing much of anything.
Still I would wear a mask and follow the safety things they say in order to help stop the da m n spread! Even if I only had myself to worry about.

I still dont feel comfortable going to the movies, or out to dinner YET.
Do grocery shopping, but wont go into retail stors yet, there isnt anything I need bad enuf vs potential risk..
How about you??
How about me? I have no family gatherings as most in my family are deceased. I don't eat out/go to movies, haven't been in a retail store since last May.
I am and was not as concerned as many on these forums about this virus from the get go. My type of life is nowhere close to most that contribute to these forums.
My contact with people is mostly at the ice rink, and the max limit is 100 people in the building. I wear a mask where required, did yesterday skating, even though I have had both shots.
So my life will go on as it has through this whole last year. Going to the hospital monthly for my B-12 shot/every 3 months for blood draws to check my Iron Ferritin level/every 6 months for a full Respiratory checkup. I was in the hospital as an in-patient last week, ice skating incident.
What others choose to do I cannot control. So I will just keep on living my active life as I had preceding/during, and now after getting both Pfizer shots.

Yeah, I understand... DH and I will probably wait to go out to dinner when it's warmer and can eat outside- Things will get back to normal, but our confidence will take time!
