I am subscribed to the USPS notification service that provides me with updates on package delivery. I get a notice when the package is received by the PO with a estimated delivery date. I get another update when it is actually out for delivery and the. Another notice when it has been delivered. THis is all good. REcently I received E mails that they had upgraded the service and new improvements were coming that I should be on the look out for. YEsterday I received a E Mail that contained a scanned copy of a envelope that contained my electric bill and a post card with a discount code from Lord and Taylor. both of which were in my mail box yesterday. THe E Mail stated this was my new and improved service. WTH??? Why would I possibly want a daily E Mail from the PO with scanned copies of the envelopes and other junk mail circulars that they put in my mailbox? you would think they could find better ways to spend their money than this. NEedless to say I immediately unsubscribed.

I got the email that this service was on the way and I am looking forward to this.
I don't always go out to my box to pick up mail because it's always junk mail. It will be nice to know if something important is in there.
I'm glad there is an option for people to unsubscribe.

that's really wierd, who needs more junk emails
I opt for a text message on delivery, its much easier to receive is that an option for you?

I agree that it's verry odd...you just want to know about delivery of pakages...not all kinds of junk mail!

They will only scan first class mail for you. Junk mail is not included. It helps you know what you are getting so that if something is put in the wrong mailbox or stolen, you will know that. I guess it depends on where you live how accurate your delivery is.

So? You unsubscribed. What's the big deal? Some people want it, some don't.

I have this service. I also have the same service with UPS & Fed Express. I make purchases that sometimes need a signature. As I'm at work, advanced notices help me in making arrangements.

THe Lord and Taylor mailer was a post card. DEfinitely not first class mail but they scanned it anyway. I think the post office has many more places to,spend their money then this. maybe they could hire more delivery people so I could get my mail before 5:30 at night.

Sounds like the USPS's mail cover surveillance program to me.
Did the email from the USPS spell out any privacy details, like who else it was sharing these scans of your mail with?
