I ordered some items from Bath and Body Works to send to a friend. I paid by Paypal ( credit card ). Now I see that on my BBW order they billed it to her and also are shipping to her. I should have known that I can only send items using Paypal to my address. I looked up info that said I could add guest addresses but don't see where I can do that. I noted that my credit card was pending a charge. What the heck are they billing her? How are they billing her even if she has an acct, I don't have access to it? This is very odd and I guess I'll have to call Paypal and Bath and Body Works tomorrow. Does anyone know how to add guest shipping addresses to your paypal account?

Is there a contact link - say, chat live? I usually use this feature and get good results.

elruth, In doing a quick search I don't see a clear answer about an alternate shipping address. I've used one in the past, but I called them first to be sure I was doing it correctly and I've forgotten exactly how I did it.

I'd check with PayPal first since you're concerned about the billing. I can't imagine there's any way for you to authorize payment from another person's account, because PayPal's site is extremely secure. Here's the link to their customer support:

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/helpcenter/helphub/home/

I've spoken with them many times, and they've always been extremely helpful and courteous.

I've ordered a couple things this season paying with PayPal and shipping to someone else. I filled out the ship to on the vendors site when I checked out, then I paid with PayPal. So it looked like my bill to and ship to addresses were different, which they were. So what I'm trying to say is PayPal didn't set the delivery address, whatever I typed on the vendors website did.

Maybe I don't understand the original question, but how could they bill it to her if you went through YOUR paypal account? You can only pay through the paypal account that you are able to sign in to, at the time of purchase. It doesn't link to somebody else's Paypal account.

They don't bill somebody for something unpaid unless you are processing a bill to charge somebody else for something.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I called Paypal and they explained that the ****** and letters they used were my private paypal identification number which people don't even know they have. It wasn't her paypal acct. I did find out if you go to your profile and click the + sign next to your address, you can add other addresses and still keep your address as the default. This is all cleared up now but still not sure why my friend was listed as the Bill to person. She actually wasn't billed. Whew!

Here is what to do and what not to do...

When checking out with paypal... you will get a screen that shows "bill to" ... that should be you. A screen will flash by (easy to miss) which lets you enter a new or another, "ship to" address. If I am not careful, I do miss the "ship to a different address" screen. Now, since I use PP all the time, my alternate (gift) addresses come up and I can choose.

Sometimes (or used to) the merchant somehow uses their info to ship...
