I don't know if there is actually far less crime than the usual murders, fires, robberies, but it seems like most of the half hour is devoted to all the wonderful and positive things people all over are doing-luminaries, teachers with great online programs,

ways to cope, the weather reports where  meterologists always seem so happy talking about any kind of weather!Woman LOL

It is kind of a nice relief to watch whereas before it would be so sad and awful, I would tell myself don't watch it again.

Maybe they are trying to find the upbeat stories so needed.

I think you're right!  People can only take so much gloom & doom with our new reality.

I no longer start my day with local news. Too depressing.

I dread the day when hear the horror stories of what went on in some homes during the quarantine. So for right now I crave the humanitarian stories.

We’re a hot zone for the virus so our local news broadcasts are as bad as the national ones.   Last night’s coverage included the Coronavirus deaths of a young nurse and reknowned modern jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis Jr.  Then there are the dire predictions of how many days are left till we run out of ventilators, etc.  And on and on..... So definitely not uplifting.

@shoesnbags -

I'm so sorry. That is so sad.

I wondered if Ellis Marsalis was related to Wynton Marsalis who I actually heard years ago. Yes his father!

I heard about the young nurse too on the news. That was heartbreaking.

I imagine it is much different in different parts of the country and you being in a hot spot must be doubly scary. Stay safe and well!
