My ignore function is fully activated and works marvelously.
It's a godsend.

Sorry @Sooner , I probably forgot seeing your nic. Not important. What years was this Ignore Button present, and on what specific forums?
When I started here there were only 5 Forums(categories)available, and I really liked it that way. Got to intermingle with more different members that way. I mean, why would I go to the Fashion Forum here? My wife says I look like a Homeless Man, and I obviously am not into GQ! Get my drift?
Maybe because I never chose to ignore any member, I might possibly have not even noticed that button. My interests here have always been Thread and Post Content. Who posted what was of little interest to me, unless! I was mentioned by name. If so, I always responded, if I felt a response was necessary.
Ignore? Not something I did/do much in my every day way of life.
You say this Button was there, I have no reason to dispute that. I just did not see it for whatever the reason.

For me to ignore is pretty simple. One has to do something to activate seeing a post. Without that activation, how does a person know who posts what in a thread?
Maybe you are talking ignore a specific poster/postee. Again pretty simple do not read them.

@hckynutjohn Hi John
We had an "Ignore" feature here when I joined in 2007. I believe the option was under the person's name .
Once you clicked on it, the posts from that poster would not show up.
The poster's NAME and AVATAR were still there but you would get a message "You have this poster on ignore" where their post would have been.
However, if another poster quoted that person, and you read THAT post, you would see the post from the person you ignored. So it was fairly useless.
I used "Ignore" only once then took it off almost right away; I'm big enough to just bypas.
I read what interests me and bypass those on the thread who make it a mission to pick and poke and bait.
Hope this helps.

Nobody is so important that one needs an ignore button.
Read what you like and from whom you like and let the rest be.
It just isn't that important.

I agree, there sure was.

I asked for this quite some time ago. Most people weren't interested. I think they enjoy reading inflammatory comments they disagree with.
I am sorry you are getting some snarky responses to your post. I did too.
I know what you were getting at and I would love to have one of those buttons as well. It would help us to remember which people we intend to ignore. Often I don't remember who those people are until I've already wasted my time on them yet again.
A simple "you've blocked this person" message would save me time and effort. It'd make things much more pleasant.
It's inefficient to try to remember all the nicknames and icons just to weed out the couple of people I don't want to read.

Now that I think about it, I pass by more threads than I open to read. I've probably passed by some interesting threads.

The last I can find here is a "Request," (7 yrs ago).. in 2015!
Is there any updated progress for "/ignore" button here, to report?
News? Q Ops? Q Admin?
TIA
Seriously? I hope you aren't holding your breath on this one.
I've been on boards with Ignore, and they seemed to encourage even more arguments and inflammatory comments.
We're grown ups. Yes, sometimes people argue or have spirited conversations, but so what?
IMO, if you can't participate on a message board without being able to ignore people and topics, maybe message boards are something you should skip altogether.
JMO, of course.

@Tinkrbl44 Nailed it.
Yet the ones who "need" the ignore feature still tend to post about others; they just do not tag so it looks as though they are not baiting and arguing.
LOL
*sigh* Such deep angst over nonsense.
