Good morning ladies.... I spoke at length to one of the partners in my firm last night.. He got me in touch with a lawyer in NJ ... who told me the laws in NJ regarding abuse with animals. We retained him for our counsel .. and it seems that this man has been very busy..He has abused a cat that he and his wife had as a pet .. and now Patches was the victim.. But, with a lot of digging the lawyer found out that this man was repeatedly beating Patch. There are many "citations" depending on how cruel the treatment was and how many were reported. Anywhere from 250 to 1000 dollar fine. And anywhere from 3 months to a year and a half in prison.. or more depending on how much abuse was reported... My friend at the animal control told me there have been at least three that they know of against patch.. And one count against that poor cat.. [Who has gotten a wonderful home.. animal control has told me].. The more we dig the more we find out sadly....This makes me sick but, this is something I have to do for patch and for the poor cat ..I have to step up to the plate .. This man has been in court before [abuse against the kitty] And the judge told him never to get a animal as a pet again... He then got Patch afterwards so that is another extra citation against this man... which can be a stiffer jail sentence or bigger fine.. The more we work on this ... the worse this gets for this man....Meanwhile me and Libby are on our way to visit patchy .. Libby has a card for him and a poem she will read to him.... And a giant size stuffed animal we name scuff. Our home is all ready for him on the lower level on the house and we can not wait to get him home... Blessings ladies..
