This thread is about known crimes to have taken place.  Not missing people.  I thank you for adding this, but it's about unsolved MURDERS.

My bad.Cat Surprised

I didn't realize when the title said "Unsolved Crimes" you only wanted murders.  I was posting after others posted- D.B. Cooper, for example is not a murder. The people that I highlighted are either dead or presumed dead from the amount of time since they disappeared.  They're famous cases that have been profiled on several programs.  The McStay family's remains were found, as were some of the others.Cat Indifferent

Got it.  But we could fill up another entire thread that would last years for missing people.  Sometimes they went off on their own.

True Crime Murder Mysteries (not disappearances).

Who murdered Al and Jeannie Mills?

The short answer is, no one knows.

Al and Jeannie Mills – who were known as Elmer and Deanna Mertle during their years in Peoples Temple – left the church in 1974 and became two of its most vocal critics. They founded the Human Freedom Center as a refuge for other Temple defectors and were active in the Concerned Relatives organization which was founded to focus media, political, and government pressure on Jim Jones. Because of their defections and their high-profile campaigns against him, Jones often lashed out at the Mills, calling them traitors and threatening retribution against them.

The Capital City Murders, Madison, Wisconsin

Over a span of fourteen years, women disappeared in and around Madison, Wisconsin and were found dead. The victims began turning up in 1968. The killings were sporadic and in many cases, the police could not identify cause of death due to the decomposed state of some of the victims. There were often spaces of years between victims. Nonetheless, the killings are thought by many to be the work of a serial killer.
