Re: USPS Stamp Out Hunger Saturday May 11

I am shocked this yearly event has not even been mentioned locally!   Not in the printed paper or online version, no TV announcement, and no postal reminders!

No USPS reminders for us, either.  We don't participate anyway; we buy extra when we shop and leave in the bin at the front of the store designated for our local food bank.

It's a good program, though, for people who cannot get to their local food banks easily or do not have donation bins at their grocery stores.

We received the card yesterday and have a packed bag ready to put out on Saturday.

A reminder: Do check the expiration dates. I found one product that had only a few days left on its "best used by date." I dumped it.

My husband packed up our bag yesterday. I am proud of our Post Office for doing this good deed

Thank you for this info. My post office is awful, I didn't know this. I am the only one on my block that donates food.

I like to contribute to this every year, it's just a small thing I can do to help. But be sure to get yours out to the mailbox early as I have seen people on my street put it out after the mail has already arrived!

If you put it on the recycling container, it would appear that it is garbage.  Put it on the floor under the mail box.

Re: USPS Stamp Out Hunger Saturday May 11

This is the first year I can remember where we didn’t receive a bag or reminder postcard.

Our regular mail carrier doesn’t work on Saturdays and it is alway an “all bets are off” thing for our Saturday delivery.

We bought our donation food this morning and I’ll take it up to the post office tomorrow morning.  They always put out a large bin. We’re supposed to have heavy rain tomorrow and our post office is one mile away so it’s no problem for me to take it up there.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
