Re: USPS, Amazon and FedEx

This is why when many complain about the "way too early Christmas Shopping Shows" and how they are going to purchase their gifts at a more traditional time, many of us do try to warn folks of the perils involved in waiting----the increase in online shopping and difficulty in delivery companies meeting the demand, WEATHER, preferred gifts that are SOLD OUT!!!-----etc etc.....These days and times CHRISTMAS IN JULY MAKES sense...Don't say we didn't try to warn you, and we also anticipated sad posts about people on their gift lists not getting their gifts in time for Christmas 🙄

No gift is worth someone's life.  The weather conditions we have had here in Colorado the last few days have been brutal.  This storm is hitting so many across the country.  USPS, FEDEX, and UPS should have all told their drivers to stay home.  It's winter and anything can happen.  Blizzards and below zero temps are reason enough to keep them off the roads.  It's bad enough the plow drivers and police have to be out there.  The rest of us should be home if at all possible.

@brandiwine - Exactly.  Well said!

I don't want anyone out risking his/her life just to deliver a package or mail to me.

How would anyone feel if it was his/her loved one out there in these conditions?

A 22-year-old lineworker in Michigan has died trying to restore power, when he made "electrical contact".  In other words he hit a live line, that he presumably thought was off.  (Or someone with a generator was backfeeding power to the line.  No details yet.)

Storms happen and this one was horrendous.  I want everyone to be as safe as possible.  My life/Christmas/holiday won't be ruined, if I have to wait another day (or days) for a delivery.

A safe and blessed holiday season to you all.

Last week before the ugly weather hit, A Fed-Ex truck caught fire loaded with gifts. Luckily the driver got out safely.

With so many things being ordered online nowadays, shipping delays should be something we all take into consideration.  Any time of year.  For any reason.

It's not like when we all had to go to a brick and mortar store to shop, and they either had what you wanted or they didn't.  Then you could pick something else.  Or do without.  But you knew the situation right then and there.

I would think people would be used to things like this by now, but many are not.

@MorningLover   It's a good day to be in southern Florida unless you're here on vacation and hoping to swim and sun. Pretty chilly for that.

But for those who are expecting last minute Chrismas orders, at least for the things that came into the area on time, delivery is happening.  I just watched a train of trucks as I stood at my sink polishing some silver.

I'm so impressed. Say what you want but....

Federal Express delivered my J Jill order this morning, followed by UPS which included a QVC Order I didn't even know had shipped.  And.....the post office delivered the mail and packages they didn't deliver yesterday.

None of these were Christmas gifts so not a big deal at all, but I sincerely appreciated the effort.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

This last part, always drives me crazy. You left out a part. It's that QVC ruined their Christmas. (Eye roll)

For those waiting until the last minute to shop, local malls and retailers should be their go to for gifts. This is not a USPS, FedEx, UPS, or Amazon's problem if people wait until the last minute to buy gifts. Maybe those complaining about gifts not reaching their destination by Christmas should consider working as a holiday temp at one of the delivery services next year. I am in awe of the volume they distribute and appreciate their service!
