@jackthebear @KittySoftPaws  I have started shopping  on EBay for a few years. I find some of the greatest bargains and things that are hard to find.  But I have a question since you're a seller.   A lot of items arrive as if the have been disinfected with a spray of some kind.   The scent is so overpowering.  I have had to soak items in vinegar to get the smell out abd then wash them.  Sometimes it takes several washings to get the smell out even after soaking in vinegar.  I think ibresd somewhere it's a requirement if EBay.  Can you confirm.  I have asked sellers to not use whatever it is.  I have had this happen with many many purchases.

people use frebreeze I hate it

if the seller allows returns return the item

Amazon saves a lot of shipping by asking employees on their way home to drop of packages thatt are near..  They are compensated of course, but I hear a lot of them do this.

I've "lost" too many packages with USPS.  The last time one of my packages went missing/tracking just stopped, I went to my local USPS to speak to a manager.  Manager told me not to ship gift cards, checks, bank checks/money orders or anything of value.  I have more confidence in UPS.

[ Edited ]

So this was my experience this past Friday at UPS:

I had to mail an item and used a small padded envelope. I chose UPS thinking with the Xmas chaos it would be a safer bet for delivery time.  There was a slight line so I stood and waited my turn. One customer was engaged by the employee who would eventually assist me while a woman with a large box was being assisted in front of me.

What caught my (and others in line) attention was the woman shouting " $150 to mail THIS box?! Is that overnight or something?!" No, it was the basic cost to have it arrived MAYBE by Christmas. "You mean you're not even guaranteeing delivery?!" she said. No, we are not said the employee. She stood there just...shocked I guess. That's when the other customer came over to her, said something in her ear and then left. The woman said "Never mind, I'll go elsewhere" , picked up her box and left.

I had moved over to the other employee while the woman did that. The envelope was so light, it didn't register on the scale so the employee had to base the cost by measurement. It was being mailed 1 state over to #4 son in college. To mail it was going to cost me $25 with no guarantee of delivery by 12/24. He needed it by the 18th. "Can't do it" the employee said. "What about overnight" I asked out of curiosity. "Nope" she said. I said "I'll go elsewhere" and left.

Guess who I saw at the Post Office? Yep, the other 2 customers. To mail my item was $8 and it arrived Monday afternoon to my son.

I have NO IDEA what is going on with UPS and their pricing/shipping. This was a UPS store so maybe pure greed on their part? Don't know but I'll stick with USPS going forward.

I don’t know what’s going on with USPS lately, but shipping is getting ridiculous. I sent a package from California to North Carolina back in October, and the regular ground rate was almost $40.

I thought to myself that people need to stop complaining about QVC's shipping rates.

I will never ship via USPS again.  I sent  a letter certified, return receipt and paid $12.  This was in the spring.  No holiday.  It never arrived.  They couldn't track it.  Considered it "lost".  No refund.  At our post office you will wait in line for at least an hour.  They have 2 clerks.  After you've stood there for 20 minutes or so one of them goes on a break.  I either use Amazon for ship to or I'll pay for real service I can count on thru UPS or Fedex.

Yes, I know, thanks,  I wanted to include a card and personal note, so that's why I shipped it locally.

In the famous words of comedian Nate Bergatze, "I......wouldn't" (use Pirate Ship). Granted, I don't know if it's a New York City thing or a Pirate Ship thing or a Sephora shipping via Pirate Ship thing, but I have read dozens and dozens and dozens of issues with deliveries not being made and customer service not cooperating.
