Just a heads up during the Holiday deliveries. UPS has temporary drivers who are using their own cars (or maybe UPS has rental cars) and they have a sign on the drivers door that says Temporary UPS driver, the delivery person wears a vest that says UPS.
Now here is my delivery issue: I ordered a new laptop from HSN. I got a email that it was out for delivery. When the driver knocked on my door, I answered and he called out my name and I confirmed who I was. He then looked at his phone and told me the box went to someone else along with another box he had so he said he had to confirm the order and would be back. I waited but later saw him outside by his car talking to someone, waiving his hands in the air then got in his car and left. I had told him when he came to my door that it was my laptop.
I was so upset, called HSN right away and told them what happened and that per the email tracking it said the package had been delivered. The rep was very nice and understood why I would be upset, it was a $500 laptop ! She told me while I was on the phone she was notifying UPS and I should call back the next day to get the status update.
Well about 45 mins later a knock came on my door, I looked out my living room window and there was the same UPS driver getting back in his car. I opened the door and there was my box with my name and address on it. I opened the box, it was my laptop. I notified HSN right away. Big thanks to that HSN rep who handled the problem right away. The moral of the story is: watch your deliveries. I'm know that with this covid more people order online and with the holiday coming, things like this will happen again.

@Goodie2shoes Glad it had a happy ending. Sounds like HSN and UPS were on the ball!

Thanks for the heads up! I was not aware of that, but have had a few delivery issues lately; though nothing that was not easily resolved.
Kudos to HSN for such stellar service, and thankfully, you have good news to report.😊

Why were you upset?

Something similar happened to me last month.
At about 7pm, or so, UPS knocked on my door and handed me several packages.
All were mine, except for one, which belonged to someone two towns over.
By the time that I realized this, the UPS guy was gone, but he returned about ten minutes later, and again knocked on my door, and I said, "I bet you're wanting this", as I handed him the package that wasn't mine.
Sounds as if your guy realized his mistake and corrected it himself, without needing to get HSN involved.

Big Annoyance: we have a large front porch with a roof over it. There is a wrought iron table by the door. It is protected from the street by a line of hemlocks. My large but lightweight QVC package was waiting for me BUT on the driveway.....thank goodness no rain that day.
The porch is quite close to the parking area of the driveway. I wonder what kind of training / instructions these temps are given !

@jlkz Even with training whether it’s actually followed seems to depend upon which individual we draw as driver or other employee. Some companies do seem to offer better service, but if there’s a perfect company it’s not one I’ve ever used— and now with what is probably the new normal in extra heavy shipping traffic, there are more and more individuals involved.
I’ve been shipping from NY to FL for several weeks now. So far everything has arrived at its proper destination, but the tracing can be all, over the place — the cost can only be extreme!

@Goodie2shoes Thanks for the heads up. I can't wait for all the paranoid people on my Nextdoor App to start posting about strange cars driving up and down the street. ![]()

Wish them a safe job. Can see why they are needed with infections and increased parcels.

I'm not quite following what happened here?
If the delivery person made a mistake I don't understand why he went to the OP's house the first time with nothing to deliver?
Did he deliver her package to the wrong address and then realize he had a delivery scheduled for her address but no package???
I'm glad it worked out but I'm very confused. ![]()
