Re: UPS Plans Hefty Holiday Fees

I guess if you know what you are going to order, do so early and have it shipped directly if it needs to go somewhere besides your own house.

I know from my husband working at UPS that shipping companies incur a ton of added expense to handle the holiday rush in the 'normal' times, but expected volume this year because of the virus is going to be really high. They have to rent additional trucks, the systems don't begin to have enough, they have to  hire additional drivers, runners (driver helpers), people to work the sort and loading. Many of the buildings cannot handle the volume coming through them even with extra equipment and people. It can be quite a mess.

Many places won't charge shipping or increase their shipping, it will be reflected in price increases of merchandise.

I think the UPS takes risks and the have been so busy.  So many packages are delayed a day or so, as thye cant handle the traffic, anddo it safely.  I guess i will plan ahead, do shopping now.   Nordies has their hearly sale...and it is good this year.  I even got Birkenstocks on sale...whoos that isnt a gift..  i guess it is for me.  Lol  plan ahead, trim down.  Somehow I think Christmas will be slim this year for many.  But as long as we have our health now a days, weare blessed and lucky!

QVC is, or at least once was their highest volume shipper. As such, they enjoy an enormous discount over what you or I would pay for standard shipping rates.

I agree, shop early, ship early. Since I've been working from home, I've seen my regular driver only once since March. The others must be casuals or newbies.

These guys and women hustle. You couldn't pay me enough to drive in all kinds of weather, no a/c in their vehicle and unplowed drives.

Most of the vendors at qvc have incredible offers and discounts and often times free shipping at their website.

I got an incredible deal a few days ago at Ulta dot com too which periodically gives you a free gift with your order and it has always been a full sized product of the same brand you are purchasing.  Made a major score with a Peter Thomas Roth product and a free gift that was a full size PTR product as well. In fact I saved $58 by purchasing from them instead of qvc and it included free shipping.

I'd just email them a gift card. No mail needed.
