Don't know if this is where I should post this but...............first of all let me tell you that I was a postal employee for 10 years...............Loved my job; loved my customers!
The new rule in our area is that rural carriers do not have to drive up to the house for a delivery. Remember...its now a rule! Your pkgs. are in the truck yet unless you are in view of the carrier they cannot be delivered and a slip is left for you to pick the item up that day or the next day.
OKAY....next.....first thing I wanted to do was to insist that all of my future QVC orders go thru UPS......WRONG!!! UPS gives our pkgs. to the postal service to deliver for a fee. So, in other words..whether you request postal or UPS you are not going to get your packages. I received a notice that three pkgs were at the PO for me today. (By the way, my husband was in the front yard with his back turned doing some gardening when our postal carrier came to the box!). Seeing that my carrier gets back from his route after the post office is closed for the day I need to wait until the next day to get my pkgs.
Somethng has to be done about this and I don't know what. Its hard for me seeing that I understand where my carrier is coming from ( rules, rules, rules) but its not right that the pkgs. are given from UPS to this carrier to deliver.
Is anyone else running into this problem?
Sorry if I sound like I am rambling but its the only way that I know how to explain this stupid situation.
Does anyone remember the words "Rural Free Delivery" from years ago? Well, its not the same now and getting worse by the day. I feel bad for my fellow workers but they are only following the rules. Everyone wonders WHY the P.O. is going under!! They can deliver all the unecessary junk mail that comes down the pike but not the packages. Does this make sense to anyone????
Sorry for rambling..............................Sue
