Re: UPDATE: a certain football player conversation

My sports radio (The Ticket 1310am DFW) JUST did a 10 minute segment on 'Forgiveness'...highlighting the Rice-Palmer relationship. They said it's a huge gray area when the victim forgives, but the public does not.

"We have the Infostructure for Sustained Outrage"

-Gordon Keith/Dallas Morning News.

The public wants this uncomfortable situation to be wrapped up in a neat package & label it "she's a victim therefore she can't get out". The reason why internet chow-chow is so popular, we can spend days/weeks speculating Janay Palmer's reasoning...but only she can give us the reason. And one of those reasons is..as crazy as it is for us to believe....Janay truly forgives her husband.

Her comments:

Janay Rice is standing by her husband, Ray Rice. The woman on the receiving end of a knockout blow from her then fiancé in an Atlantic City elevator says the media scrutiny has basically re-opened old wounds and hurt their family.

In a statement via Instagram, confirmed by the Baltimore Sun, the former Janay Palmer expressed frustration at her predicament. “I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend,” reads her message. “But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself.

No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his a*s off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific.” - See more at: http://hiphopwired.com/2014/09/09/janay-rice-defends-ray-rice-slams-media/#sthash.FmVaVqF5.dpuf

ITA!!! On another thread, I said no one is saying it's her fault...no one. Repeat....no one. I'm glad someone else is pointing out this fallacy! But some posters like to argue for argument sake.

Seriously. They took their own sweet time to reach that decision.

My understanding is that they did not have the portion of the video at the time. The one they were using for his earlier suspension showed him dragging her out of the elevator.

Yes, obviously unconscious. That wasn't enough?

I supposed Oprah is also blaming women:

"When you grew up in an environment where there is abuse, it's more acceptable to you," Winfrey said : "If you go back with a man who hits you it's because you don't think you're worthy of being with a man who won't."

I don't know if she has abused woman syndrom or not but the fact that he was getting a big payday might have something to do with it.

I don't care what or when or how a man should NEVER EVER EVER punch a woman in the face or anywhere else!

If you've never seen it, you must watch "What's Love Got to do With it? Tina Turner wrote the book, Angela Bassett played Tina in the movie, and Laurence Fishburne played Ike Turner. The movie is very graphic and hard to watch, but they both got Oscar noms for it.

It shows a lot of why women stay. Fortunately, Tina got up the nerve to leave and became a huge star on her own. It's well worth watching.

Maybe they thought she was passed out from drinking?

In any event, it's coming to light that this may not even be true. They've had the full tape the entire time and chose to ignore it.
