He should be in jail!! Anybody else would be!!

And she should be in divorce court. With the real possibility he will not have huge future paychecks, maybe she'll realize, "I promise I'll never hit you again" is BS.

she shouldn't have married him in the first place. the second he raised a hand she should have walked away. she didn't. now it's on her.

IT IS NOT ON HER!!!

Supposedly the courts decided to do a pre-trial intervention and if he completes the program there will not be any further (legal) action.

I do not know if this is binding, or if they can up the charges with this evidence.

It's standard for first time offenders...

especially if they are rich and famous!

OJ got off "easy" for a lot of his abuse too.

Not necessarily. Different jurisdiction, different time. The Prosecutor did not have all the evidence at the time when the pre-trial intervention was put in place. The GF is also part of that Pre-trial program-- she actually gave misleading info or misrepresent the actual facts of the matter to the authorities, making it look like a mutual DV situation.

The Prosecutor was not given this most recent video until today. If they had that in the beginning, it would have been a game changer.

I am a social worker. BUT - it doesn't take a degree to realize that abused women often lie to cover up the abuse...especially in this case when it's her word against Ray Rice, his team & his fans.

I have to wonder the psychology behind her defending him and then marrying him AFTER this. There has to be some hold he had on her, mentally, financially...

She needs help if she thinks this is ok.

She may be too frightened to act as if it is anything OTHER than OK.

Gosh, you are not the only educated person in this- I was just pointing out the situation in THIS case is not the necessarily the same as Nichole Simpson/OJ-- it is a different time and jurisdiction-- and that the GF took some of the blame herself, which influenced the DA's original decision.

I understand abuse.

I understand-- but they were NOT yet married.

I am not blaming her, I am questioning why she felt she could not leave a man she was not married to and then go ahead with the wedding.

Nicole ALSO took some blame for OJs abuse. She covered for him for years and he never was actually arrested for the numerous beatings he gave her.

Every situation is unique...I just think the DA and the NFL should have dug a little deeper at the beginning of this case.

Blaming the victim is always wrong and she was obviously the victim in this situation - not Ray Rice.
