From time to time I see outrageous prices for an item on other sites like Amazon and eBay. 

 

While they could truly be typos I wonder if it isn't simply a place holder method used when the vendor is out of inventory yet wants to preserve their search result position.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.
