Around here it's dried ones, especially those huge dried ones.

I use frozen lima beans.  Of course dried ones are available everywhere but I don't cook them often and my kitchen is small so buying and storing a large quantity wouldn't work for me.

Re: Two Things I Can't Find in Any Grocery Store

Our nearest grocery stores are more than 10 miles away, and right across the highway from each other Walmart (a smaller one) and Food Lion (where we regularly shop)...I never have been one to go from store to store looking for things because of the distance, and now with gas prices so high I definitely won't.

Food Lion usually has what we want/need, but from week to week any one thing may not be available. The only thing I haven't seen for a long time is Chicken Rice-a-Roni, which we occasionally like as a side dish. The Fried Rice flavor has been available, and it's actually a pretty good substitute. Every other flavor they make has also been available, except for the Chicken--wonder why?

Rice a Roni, there's a blast from the past.  I haven't thought about it in years.   My mom served it a couple if times a week, I did too way back in the early years but I stopped due to the high percentage of sodium and Msg.

I found a bottle of Desanti water drops in pink lemonade in the cabinet and loved them; now they are sold out everywhere, even online!

the canned shrimp can be difficult find.  last time I was in the store I could only find the tiny ones in a can.   What happened to the medium ones?  Oh, they stopped making the cofee ice cream with some chocolate running thru it.

I didn't know canned shrimp was even a thing.  What do you use it for?

As for frozen lima beans, I don't buy them.  If I did, it would probably be for vegatable soup.

@ValuSkr

When I used to cook a lot, when the kids were home, and cooked lots of stuff and I had a recipe that called for canned shrimp.  I can't recall now what it was but recall buying them and I have had recipes that called for canned crab meat.  That, too, I don't recall what. I cook very simple, easy meals now, with my husband's diabetes and heart disease, I have a very limited repetoire that involves fresh chicken and fresh fish any way that I can cook it with small amounts of carbs and/or sodium.

@chrystaltree That's why we only eat it occasionally. It is delicious, though!
