Why the heck did my post get poofed?

All I said was that I prefer to have a man as a lover (provided we're compatible in that area) than a friend. Not that guy friends aren't good to have. And I like my alone time. I'm not real fond of having man around all the time.

I don't really think that great lovers are a dime a dozen.

I didn't say ""great"" - that's another story completely

Re: Two Part Question about Relationships

In think people FEAR LONELINESS in today's society so much, that they will stay in an unhappy boring relationship just to be with someone. I have friends who have never lived by themselves ever. They went from family, to boyfriends to husband(s) with no time in between to just live alone. Many women feel the need to always have a mate and someone to rely on.

Re: Two Part Question about Relationships

1) Someone in love having a cheerful disposition doesn't tell you anything at all about what else might be going on in their lives that's causing them sadness.

2) I know a couple of people who need to have a partner in their lives at all costs. I'm not one of them.

Re: Two Part Question about Relationships

Love, respect and give and take are all essential components of a great relationship. I don't see a lot of that these days. Many people are so selfish and think only of themselves which means the relationship is doomed from the start.

My rule is that they have to be great if I'm going to have to listen to them snore.

And if they're going to be around EVERY night, buddy, they better be better than great. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Otherwise, THEY'RE OUTTA HERE!

Thinking that it would be nice if the OP meets a special someone and that they fall in love so that she can answer the first part of her question from experience.

Re: Two Part Question about Relationships

IMO... a persons personality whether it be upbeat/sunny or not has little to do with if they are in love.

Re: Two Part Question about Relationships

Being in love doesn't mean you're going to be happy outside of that relationship. They could be perfectly happy when with that person, but unhappy with life at work or elsewhere. Lots of people like that. But you never know what underlying circumstances are happening in a person's life so I try not to judge.

And yes, I do know a few people that would prefer to have anybody, whether or not they loved them, than to being alone.

Re: Two Part Question about Relationships

Being in love and being happy are not always compatible.

Just as there are people who enjoy being alone, there are those who cannot stand being alone. Yes, some would rather be with someone who treats them badly than be alone.
