Make it your goal to be someone that you would like to spend the rest

of your life with. Lord, help me approach my day interested in everything

that happens so that my life will truly be an adventure.

"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have

love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." ~1 Corinthians 13:1

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have

love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." Love means to care

enough about other people to really want to do something for them. A

smile, a word of encouragement, a word of love, goes winged on its

way, simple though it may seem, while the mighty words of an orator

can fall on deaf ears. We can use up the odd moments of our day in

trying to do some little thing to cheer up another person. Boredom

can come from thinking too much about ourselves.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that my day may be brightened by some little act of charity. I

pray that I may try today to overcome the self-centeredness that can

bore me.

Hello my friends! Today was nice - I made a good meal and we had Lori here for supper - and she got to tell us all about her seminar. She called last night when she landed at 11:45 PM and and she called again at 1:45 AM when she was near home. Her car started right off!! Praise the Lord!!! I just got an email from my niece saying that my sister, Erma, fell and broke her collarbone. She's my sister with the Parkinson's, and uses a walker. She was just picking out her clothes last night for today when she fell!! My niece said her phone is right by her bed, but she's in too much pain now to call her and tomorrow she'll keep me informed how things are. Poor Erma, every time she falls it seems like she breaks! Please would you pray for her healing? She's in assisted living now. I remember another time she fell a few years ago and broke her pelvis, and that took a long time to heal! I'll be putting her on the prayer lines shortly right after this thread is finished. Thanks for praying and know that I'm praying for you all too. God bless you!

One stormy night many years ago, an elderly man and

his wife entered the lobby of a small hotel in

Philadelphia. Trying to get out of the rain, the

couple approached the front desk hoping to get some

shelter for the night.

"Could you possibly give us a room here?" the husband

asked. The clerk, a friendly man with a winning smile,

looked at the couple and explained that there were

three conventions in town.

"All of our rooms are taken," the clerk said. "But I

can't send a nice couple like you out into the rain at

one o'clock in the morning. Would you perhaps be

willing to sleep in my room? It's not exactly a

suite, but it will be good enough to make you folks

comfortable for the night."

When the couple declined, the young man pressed on.

"Don't worry about me; I'll make out just fine," the

clerk told them. So the couple agreed.

As he paid his bill the next morning, the elderly man

said to the clerk, "You are the kind of manager who

should be the boss of the best hotel in the United

States. Maybe someday I'll build one for you."

The clerk looked at them and smiled. The three of

them had a good laugh.

As they drove away, the elderly couple agreed that

the helpful clerk was indeed exceptional, as finding

people who are both friendly and helpful isn't easy.

Two years passed. The clerk had almost forgotten the

incident when he received a letter from the old man.

It recalled that stormy night and enclosed a

round-trip ticket to New York, asking the young man to

pay them a visit.

The old man met him in New York, and led him to the

corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. He then

pointed to a great new building there, a palace of

reddish stone, with turrets and watchtowers thrusting

up to the sky.

"That," said the older man, "is the hotel I have just

built for you to manage."

"You must be joking," the young man said.

"I can assure you I am not," said the older man, a sly

smile playing around his mouth.

The older man's name was William Waldorf Astor, and

the magnificent structure was the original

Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

The young clerk who became its first manager was

George C. Boldt. This young clerk never foresaw the

turn of events that would lead him to become the

manager of one of the world's most glamorous hotels.

The Bible says that we are not to turn our backs on

those who are in need, for we might be entertaining

angels.

Life is more accurately measured by the lives you

touch than the things you acquire...

God Bless You & Yours.

Once Upon A Pew I Sat

Once upon a pew I sat And heard the preacher ask,

"We need someone to teach a class, Now who will take this task?"

Then God sat down beside me there And said, "Son, that's for you."

"But, Lord, to stand before a class Is one thing I can't do.

Now Bill would be the man to call, There's nothing he won't do.

I'd rather hear the lesson taught From here upon my pew."

Once upon a pew I sat And heard the preacher ask, "We need someone to

lead the songs, Now who will take this task?"

Then God sat down beside me there And said, "Son, that's for you."

"But Lord, to sing before a crowd Is one thing I can't do.

Now Brother King will do the job, There's nothing he won't do.

I'd rather hear the music played From here upon my pew."

Once upon a pew I sat And heard the preacher ask, "I need someone to

keep the door, Now who will take this task?"

Then God sat down beside me there And said, "Son, that's for you."

"But saying things to strangers, Lord, Is one thing I can't do.

Now Tom can talk to people, Lord, There's nothing he won't do.

I'd rather someone come to me And greet me on the pew."

As years just seemed to pass me by, I heard that voice no more.

Until one night I closed my eyes And woke on heaven's shore.

'Twas four of us together there To face eternity.

God said, "I need just three of you To do a job for me."

"O Lord, I cried, "I'll do the job, There's nothing I won't do."

But Jesus said, "I'm sorry, Friend, In Heaven there's no pew."

Finders Keepers

A wise woman who was travelling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveller who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveller saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation.

The traveller left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman. "I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious: Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone."

Prayer:

Grant O Lord, My God, a mind to know you,

a heart to seek you,

wisdom to find you,

conduct pleasing to you,

faithful perseverance in waiting for you

and a hope of finally embracing you.

Acts 20:35 - (Jesus said) "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving."

Prayer to Defeat Satan

O Divine Eternal Father, in union with Thy Divine Son and the Holy Spirit and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

I beseech Thee to destroy the power thy greatest enemy, the evil spirits.

Cast them into the deepest recesses of H ell and chain them there forever!

Take possession of Thy kingdom which Thou hast created and which is rightfully Thine.

O Heavenly Father, grant us the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

I repeat this prayer out of pure love for Thee, with every beat of my heart, and with every breath I take.

Amen.

Morning Prayer

Lord, I thank you for this time to be with you. I don’t deserve your close friendship, and yet you offer me the intimacy of your heart. I trust in your goodness and hope in your infinite mercy. I love you and wish to give up anything that would keep me from you.

Lord, give me compunction of heart and the grace of a true conversion.
