Don't miss a single chance to enrich your life or the lives of others. Lord,
Your blessings are countless. May I always be aware of Your presence in
my life, share my blessings, and use my blessings to be a blessing to
others.

Scripture for the day:

"So we can say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be
afraid. What can anyone do to me?'" ~Hebrews 13:6

Meditation for the day:

We can make it a daily practice to review our character. We can take our
character in relation to our daily life, to our dear ones, our friends, our
acquaintances and our work. Each day we can try to see where God wants us
to change. We can plan how best each fault can be eradicated or each
mistake be corrected. We need never be satisfied with a comparison with
those around us. We can strive toward a better life as our ultimate goal.
God is our helper through weakness to power, through danger to security,
through fear and worry to peace and serenity.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may make real progress toward a better life. I pray that I
may never be satisfied with my present state.

Hello my friends! On this ordinary day, I find many blessings - first at
Mass this morning - then later a phone call from both daughters, husband's
day off, love to see all the work he did on the yard - he pulled weeds,
trimmed the raspberry bu shes, and he helped me dig potatoes. Would you
believe this? Squirrels, for the first time ever I've seen this - have been
getting into our potatoes, and trying to carry them home with him, but they
drop them in the yard - all over wherever! Tonight our neighbor gave us our
red potato that a squirrel brought over to his lawn. I saw it with my own
eyes - a squirrel trying to run off with a potato and I just yelled, "Hey
you", and he dropped it and ran up a tree. Some have little bits, but some
don't have any. That is the strangest! So tonight I dug up the rest of our
red potatoes, we have maybe now about 10 pounds of potatoes, it's a small
patch. He planted another potato patch behind our shed, and those are
russets and not ready yet. Today I was blessed with a lot more lettuce,
kale, and parsley which I picked - washed good, and put in the fridge, and
we had a good salad tonight using those garden stuff, oh yes, forgot about
my yellow pepper from the garden. We will have plenty of peppers, red,
orange and yellow, and we'll have lots of cantaloupe and squash when it gets
ripe. We were disappointed in how few peas we got, and our beans are so
slow. I always love digging potatoes and seeing how many are there under
one plant! But if it were a big, huge potato field, I'm sure I'd be
thinking differently, like we had on the farm! Thanks for all your posts,
without them, we wouldn't have a thread! Praying for you all for all your
intentions and thanks for your prayers for us.

My Morning Prayer

I come before You, Lord, In the newness of this day
To ask Your grace upon me, Your love to guide my way.
May I face this day with strength, A gift from You above,
And may I show to others The mercies of your love.
May I don my Christian faith Best to wear at its best,
So when temptations come to taunt I'm ready for their test.
Then when at last it's evening And I come again in prayer
May I not forget to thank You For this tender, loving care.

what's ailing you today?
Well, gather round folks and listen

From the trouble you've been having
you will quickly find relief!

Take a great big swallow of faith
and another one of hope;
I promise you it won't be long
till you find that you can cope!

Take a huge dose of forgiveness
and a large dose of love;
Then throw out all those pills of
depression and give thanks to
your God above!

Prayer of Trust
By St. Aloysius Gonzaga

O Holy Mary, my Mistress!
I commend my soul and body
unto thy blessed and special trust today
and every day,
and at the hour of my passing hence.
To thee I entrust all my hope and consolation,
all my anguish and miseries,
my life and the end of my life,
that through thy most holy intercession
and thy merits,
all my actions may be
directed and disposed according
to thy will and that of thy Son.
Amen.

ANGEL TALK
Author Unknown

Just inside the Pearly Gates
Underneath a gorgeous sky
Two angels hovered near a cloud
(They don't sit like you and I!)

"I just don't understand it,"
Said angel number one,
"I've watched and studied everything
Those foolish souls have done."

The second angel gave a shrug,
"Why do you even care?
It's no concern of ours at all
What they choose to do down there."

"Maybe not," the first one said,
"But still I'd like to know
With all the blessings they've received
What makes them quarrel so?"

The second angel stretched his wings
Then smoothed a ruffled feather,
"It's just about a hopeless cause
For men to live together."

"The Master's working very hard
Has been for generations. ....
And still they fight among themselves
causing death and devastation. "

The older angel softly sighed,
"You can't change things, little one,
The Master's tried everything
He even sacrificed His Son!!"

The young angel nodded slowly,
"That's what seems so bad!
He suffered, bled and died for them!
He gave them all he had!"

"Oh, He still has more to give,"
The other looked both sad and wise,
"For I've seen Jesus when souls are lost,
And I've held Him while He cries."

"For to Him each one is precious
With a value beyond measure.....
He wants them all up here with Him
To share in Heaven's treasure."

"And sometimes, someone down on Earth
Will kneel in fervent prayer
Crying out, 'Please help me, God!
Show me that You're there!'"

"And when that happens you will hear
All the bells of Heaven ring!
As the Master's love pours down like rain

And the Heart of Jesus sings!"

The Caged Birds

A man was on the side of the road with a large birdcage.
A boy noticed that the cage was full of birds of many kinds.
Where did you get those birds?" he asked. "Oh, all over the
place," the man replied. "I lure them with crumbs, pretend I'm
their friend then when they are close, net them and shove them into
my cage." "And what are you going to do with them now?" The man
grinned, "I'm going to prod them with sticks, and get them really
mad so they fight and kill each other. Those that survive, I will
kill. None will escape." The boy looked steadily at the man. What
made him do such things? He looked into the cruel, hard eyes. Then
he looked at the birds, defenseless, without hope. "Can I buy those
birds?" the boy asked.

The man hid a smile, aware that he could be on to a good thing if he
played his cards right. "Well, he said hesitantly, "The cage is
pretty expensive, and I spent a lot of time collecting these birds.
I'll tell you what I'll do, I'll let you have the lot, birds, cage
and all for ten dollars and that jacket you're wearing." The boy
paused, ten dollars was all he had, and the jacket was new and very
special, in fact it was his prized possession. Slowly, he took out
the ten dollars and handed it over, then even more slowly he took off
his jacket, gave it one last look then handed that over too. And then
he opened the door and let the birds go free.

MORAL OF THE STORY The Enemy of the world, Satan, was on the side of
life's road with a very large cage. The man coming towards him
noticed that it was crammed full of people of every kind, young, old,
from every race and nation. "Where did you get these people?" the man
asked. "Oh, from all over the world, " Satan replied. "I lure them
with drink, drugs, lust, lies, anger, hate, love of money and all
manner of things. I pretend I'm their friend, out to give them a
good time, then when I've hooked them, into the cage they go."

"And what are you going to do with them now?" asked the man. Satan
grinned. "I'm going to prod them, provoke them, get them to hate and
destroy each other; I'll stir up racial hatred, defiance of law and
order; I'll make people bored, lonely, dissatisfied, confused and
restless. It's easy. People will always listen to what I offer them
and (what's better) blame God for the outcome!"

And then what?" the man asked. "Those who do not destroy themselves,
I will destroy. None will escape me." The man stepped forward. "Can
I buy these people from you," he asked. Satan snarled, "Yes, but it
will cost you your life."

"For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting
