Trying to Improve My Time and Money Spending

Is it just me?  I have a new project to more how I spend my time and money more efficient. I feel like less is going to be more.

I am cutting down on books I read just because.  If the writing or the information or story isn't worthwhile, if it is just wasting time, I'll not read it and delete it. Quitting a book this morning brought this home to me.

If I buy it, I use it.

If I spend money, it has to be for something of quality.  Not just for cheap.  It doesn't mean it has to be expensive, but should be good quality. But if I have one I have to use it first.

Deleting a bunch of e-mail notices.  Deleting and cleaning out files and excess paperwork and computer files.

I am intent on getting rid of more clutter--and not just the physical, but things that clutter my time and my mind, and replace with things that make life and me better.

I am old and have to make better use of my time I think!

@Sooner

I'm on that exact same path; letting a lot of stuff go.

Re: Trying to Improve My Time and Money Spending

I have come to the same conclusion. I deactivated Facebook on Tuesday night. It wastes my time, it tracks me which is monetized by the oligarch who owns it and my opinions will no longer be there. I plan to clean and declutter my house. I am watching less television, especially media. I will focus on my friends and family and take care about what I say to people I don't know. Self preservation is foremost. I don't have a lot of years left but I want to control those years.

I am amazed at what's here that's not being used.

@chessylady Exactly!  Well said!  We have almost completely cut out television, and find few recent movies of interest.  We do watch the Chicago Fire and PD.  Not that they are in my desired categories. . . Woman Embarassed

I'm doing the same with people.  I know that sounds harsh, but I no longer wish to "pretend" I'm enjoying time with people I'd rather not spend time with.

I've so gotten to the point where I need to declutter and get rid of stuff (more of the physical stuff). I'm finding I enjoy empty space more. It's just calming and relaxing....too much stuff is stress!

I know when I really "clean" (which is just cramming stuff away from sight or moving it around) I love it but ultimately things seem to find their way out and around again after time because I just have too much stuff for my space.

It's frustrating because I have a hard time getting rid of things, right now it's clothes....I try them on and think they look good so I think I'll wear them at some point but most I never do......

I need to just attack the junk and stop procrastinating....

I don't know why it's so hard to do.

Edited to add : I also avoid parties and get togethers more than I used to because life's too short to force youself to do things you hate and I mostly hate being social (Baahumbug.....)
