My daughter is usually out 7-11 days when she does her normal west coast run.

I already have, and she's grinning from ear to ear right now!

@RedTop, your daughter is a rock star in my eyes. So thankful for workers like her.

My husband and I have 63 years of combined experience working with truckers. We are not truckers, and never could be! The ones we knew were hard working and dedicated employees. I noticed that many were single people who actually enjoyed being on the road. Often times, they had a small apartment or lived with a family member. They usually took nice vacations and splurged on their hobbies.

Truck drivers are the salt of the earth.
They're underpaid
They have to drive through all types of weather
They're away from their families
They have to drive through riots and whatnot
Not to mention they are hassled by police and get tickets if their load is overweight, etc.

In WV, you will not travel any of our interstates without seeing clearly marked DOT vehicles waiting to pull semi trucks and commercial vehicles over, for violations.
DOT is very good in finding unsafe equipment on these large trucks and getting them repaired, or off the road. Not all trucking companies maintain their trucks as they should, which is why drivers spend so much time waiting for road repairs.
My daughter is held responsible for the weight of the product loaded on her truck. As soon as she pulls away from a warehouse loading dock, she drives to the closest weigh station to get an official weight. Based on that weight, she can adjust her tandems to accommodate, but often has to go back to the warehouse to have product moved around inside the trailer, or removed, with an adjustment to the paperwork. A weight issue falls squarely on the driver.

HAPPY TRUCKER APPRECIATION WEEK (and thanks @Kachina624 for bringing it
to our attention) They never receive the thanks they deserve.
And a special THANK YOU @RedTop to your trucker daughter. ![]()
We have a friend who is a trucker, but his truck has been parked for the last few months.
He started having health issues and now can't afford the $$$$$$ to have his truck
inspected, plus he needs new tires. He had to get a behind a desk job and he hates it.
Itchin' to get back on the road.
