I kind of like the name Anjou that someone mentioned, and I love the name of our poster Alijoi. I also always like the name Jon Benet (as in Ramsey).

I like the names of Alyson Hannigan's two girls - unusual but not "weird/funny." Satyana, which is Sanskrit for truth, and Keeva which is Irish for beautiful, gentle.

Baby names are such a personal issue. My son and dil chose their names as soon as they learned they would be expecting two girls. I thought both names were traditional, and who would have objections to them?
Well, I think a few people did. I heard comments like..."maybe once the girls are born, they'll change their minds".
They did not change their minds!

Threads about childrens' names always make me think of a friend of mine whose late sister was Frank Zappa's widow. (For those who aren't familiar with Gail and Frank's childrens' names: Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet, and Diva Muffin.) I think I can understand the desire for children to have their own unique names... but I also like so many of the more "traditional" names, too. To each her/his own.

Part of me wants to just text her, but I kind of want to hear her reaction over the phone. If she throws a fit, which I suspect she will, I could have cause to tell her that her immediate reaction might be as big as others would have when they meet her. This might encourage her to convince her daughter to change her mind.
@ShadyOasis Why don't you email her a picture? One picture is worth a thousand words.
I would definitely e-mail her the picture that was posted here so she can see what this girl will be dealing with thru out her life.

Bathsheba Everdine was a character in Far From the Madding Crowd. Julie Christie played her in the movie.
It's the only time I have ever heard the name.....

My name is Ellen Linda, very typical for girls born in the 1950's, in fact there were two other Ellen's in my 5th grade class.

It's a Biblical name.

@shoptilyadropagain Bathsheba was the wife of King David in the Bible.
Exactly. Not a name we hear often in modern times, but I'm very familiar with it from the Bible. One of my friends is named Zipporah, also taken from the Bible (she named her daughter that, too).

On a positive note, they are beautiful horses. If not familiar, look at Florida State's mascot (though not considered "mascot" by FSU) Renegade. It's also very interesting how the whole process works. They are really exceptional Appaloosa's.
That was a joke though. There is no positive, lol.
