I just read an ARTICLE about the major phone companies phasing out old copper telephone lines and not repairing or replacing them as service is needed. I know the one phone company that services my region no longer provides new POTS service. It is digital or nothing.
Where I live that scares the heck out me. Electric, satellite and Internet service are all subject to frequent outages and as unreliable as cell service can be in my mountain community the thought of being left without a phone is scary.
I still haven't recovered from the loss of analog TV. I have tried many battery powered digital TVs to use when the power goes out but not one of them would receive a station that would do me any good. I can, more often than not, get one of the local PBS stations but that does me no good at all when we are having a weather event.
Especially those that live in rural and/or mountainous areas how do you feel about all digital service?
