I think they have a lot of store brand and different frozen prepared food like orange chicken, seafood dishes and such, many from around the world, along with frozen vegetables. And fewer national brands of dairy products.
They don't have any/many national brands of canned veggies or sauces in jars, etc., so it's a great place for people who like to try new things. Lots of snacks, crackers, beauty products that are not main-stream, and candies, and lots of wine.
I'd say if you like Aldi's you will like TJ's. If you are someone who buys pretty much the same things and can shop from your usual products list, I doubt you'll like it.
As another poster pointed out their meats are pre-packaged, and some from other countries, which is not my favorite thing.

I think some of TJ's items are made by nationally known brands. Sometimes when I scan an item into my diary in MyFitnessPal, it will come up as a brand name I'm familiar with. Not all items, but some.

Maybe once a month I stop in for a container of Coffee Blast ice cream. Husband likes the cubano sandwich. 😋

Hey @Caligurll ! Yes, Trader Joe's sells national brands and puts their name on it....used to be able to buy Amy's roasted vegetable pizza (vegan) at half price ....even the box was the same but had Trader Joe's instead of Amy's on the box.

I too like TJ's. It took me a while to try things and weed out the things I didn't like. Their prices are much lower in Santa Fe than the mainstream grocery stores. I stick more to the regular items but now and then grab a speciality item or two.
Since Covid, my favorite TJ items has disappeared. It was a pre made, heat and eat, Greek chicken with orzo, Kalamata olives and feta main dish. It was soooooo good and we ate it all of the time. I keep hoping it might come back but I'm not holding my breath.

The Thanksgiving items are being stocked. The gravy, condensed mushroom soup, the onion pieces for the gad-awfull green bean casserole, the cranberry sauce in jar, turkey stock, and a few other items took up a large end cap the other day.
I'm just waiting for the cookies in the big red tin to come in.
I noticed online they are also showing the cornbread stuffing is out, too.

They sell brands I've never heard of. There is one not far from me, but I don't go in there. Nothing for me in there.
They only sell TJ brand
I do all my shopping there. Have no problem finding what I need. Also don,t have to watch the register at checkout like SAFEWAY AND ESPECIALLY RALEY,S. Always a mistake of at least a dollar an item.
Raley,s French bread 1.98, register charged 2.48. Honey crisp apples 2.69 lb.. Register rang up 2.99 a lb. I told mgrs. and called corporate and 6 month later still not changed.
An elderly home near it and a lot buy there. I hope they look at their receipts. I don,t have this problem @TJ.
@qvcaddition I don't shop there. The one not far from me has been there for years. I've never been and have no intention on going. I'm good with the other choices I have.

@Bridgegal, the Greek chicken dish is still made. I bought one last month, but they only had two left.

It's OK. I only answered because you said they sell brands you never heard. If you never shopped there, why did you say that.? It's not for everyone, bascially for single people. My son doesn't like shopping there because he cooks for the family and difficult for him to find what he needs. For me, that is my go to store. Maybe they are different in different states.
Sorry didn't mean anything by it.
