Was it you who talked about bugs in strawberries a few months ago?

Whether yes or no, I went down the old Google rabbit hole and now I can't unsee what I saw.

I may never eat another strawberry as long as I live.

Yes, it was me.  I made strawberry shortcake yesterday and as I was cleaning the berries, it was on my mind too.

I am sure all of us have eaten an insect or two in our lifetime, but it is stomach churning to think about it.

Ah, strawberry shortcake is a favorite of my husband's but he is acquiescing due to my current irrational (?) repulsion. 😲

@magicmoodz   make it with peaches instead.  Just slice and sugar them.  You will need a sprinkle of some orange juice or Fruit Fresh to keep the peaches from turning brown unless you eat them immediately.

Peaches are yummy and there are no places for bugs to hide.

@Carmie

That's a good idea Carmie. I haven't bought any peaches yet this season. I did consider raspberries but there are a lot of nooks and crannies for creepies to hide.

I know this is silly since we might very well have mites on our eyelashes but that jelly looking creature with antenna was a little more than I can stomach--literally.

We have a neighbor who has a weekend home where he keeps a big garden and has been sharing his harvest. I "trust" those big smooth zucchini with no place to hide. So for now I have been making zucchini bread. My husband puts a big dollop of whipped cream on a slice probably dreaming it is strawberry shortcake. Haha😂

Have a nice day!
